by Kelex

What's inside:

🤩ABO Shifter Omegaverse
🤩A Slow Burn
🤩Mpreg
🤩Slight Age Gap
🤩Younger Alpha/Older Omega
🤩A Love Triangle of sorts
🤩Drama!
🤩Babies

A year ago, Alpha Dominick “Dom” Harper made the move to Valleywood to find his way onto the big screen, but he’s only managed to land a few roles in student flicks. To make ends meet, he spends his nights working behind the bar, mixing cocktails for the brash and beautiful. One evening brings him face-to-face with the owner of the newly opened Viper Productions—and an invitation for an audition with plenty of strings attached.

An audition that has Flynn Walker in attendance, the film's omega director—and his mate. Already twisted into knots by the film’s producer, Dom can’t pursue what’s his.

At least, not openly.

Flynn Walker isn’t ready to jump into the sack with Dom, either. Few omega directors exist in Valleywood, and no one wanted to invest in his vanity project except the new production house. He’s not ready to put his career and his project in jeopardy over a man.

Even if that man is his mate.

Can Dom and Flynn figure out a way to be together without ruining their careers and destroying the movie that brought them together?

Sunday Spotlight - Lisa Oliver and the Cub and His Alpha (The Alpha and Omega Series, 7)

Welcome Lisa Oliver back to Sunday Spotlight. Today she's haring a bit from her bran new release, The Cub and His Alpha (The Alpha and Omega Series, 7)

Twenty-three year old bear shifter, Daniel Borden had his life crash around his ears at the tender age of fifteen when his parents were killed in a car accident. Struggling to control his shifts during puberty, Daniel left the foster care home he'd been placed in the day he turned eighteen. Thankfully, his parents left him well provided for and he was able to realize his dream—owning a safe place to call his own. Now an international best-selling author, Daniel hides behind his computer, convinced his life is fine just the way it is. Unfortunately, his only vice—a love of wild blueberries—changes his life in ways he'd only dreamed of.

Zeke McIntyre and Ty Hollifield are two Kodiak bear shifters who've spent ten years on the road, looking for their elusive third. Determined to allow the hand of fate to guide them, they end up in a "blink and you miss it" town all because of a white picket fence. Deciding to take the time to stretch their legs and let their long suffering bear forms free, Ty and Zeke spend their days wandering about in their fur in the nearby forest and loving on each other the way mated bears do. Until a brief hint of an alluring scent in the air, guides them to the one they've been looking for.

And you'd think, that would be the end of the story. But it isn't. The older Kodiaks arrival in Daniel's life brings out issues he'd never had to face head on before. Convinced by his mates to attend a writer's conference in Roswell, and unwilling to let his mates down, Daniel has to face the fears that kept him hidden in his lovely house. Will he ever learn to trust the safety that could be found in his lovers' arms, or will he be going home alone?

The Cub and his Alphas is an MMM standalone story that includes minimal violence and some coarse language. Intimate descriptions of the three men together are also included so this book is suitable for adults only. This is a low angst, complete, sweet bear story, although the epilogue suggests a sequel with a secondary character.

Approx 47,000 words (147 pages).

Excerpt

Daniel chuffed as he rubbed his furry back in the long grass, his face turned up to the afternoon sun. Berry bushes, berry bushes as far as the eye could see. Well, they were all Daniel could see, given he was splat dang in the middle of them. Heaven, heaven, heaven, he sung in his mind, reaching out with his long claws to snag the nearest branch. How fucking lucky am I, he wondered as he smashed a paw-load of blueberries in his mouth.

The run was a spontaneous thing. Daniel was, as a rule, a quiet young man who spent most of his days on the computer writing his latest novel. But today the lure of the sunshine, and a nagging feeling his latest book wasn’t going the way it was meant to, saw him taking the four mile drive to his local forest for a bit of a stretch. He had planned on fishing in his furry form, but his nose caught the whiff of ripened fruit and suddenly fish didn’t seem as appetizing to his long bear nose.

La, la, la. Daniel swiped more blueberries with his other paw, well aware his golden fur was being stained blue. Two paw lots, yeah. One lot in my mouth, two lots in my mouth and so much more for me to munch. He could feel the juices smushed under his nose and dribbling down his chin, but with the sound of the babbling creek he’d planned to fish tickling his ear, Daniel didn’t care. He could wash up before he trundled home. The birds were singing, the sun was hot on his fur and the berries were sweet.

Hang on a minute. Daniel tensed and twitched his ears. The birds had been singing, but they were silent now. Seconds later he heard the snap of a breaking twig and the thump of footsteps from a being far heavier than him reverberated up his spine.

Fuck, fuck, fuck, I should have known it was too good to be true. Daniel rolled onto his feet, his fur quivering. Blueberries did grow wild in his part of the world, but what were the chances the perfectly spaced bushes occurred naturally? He was poaching in someone else’s patch and as the thuds got closer, Daniel panicked. He didn’t know of any other bear shifters in the tiny town of Edendale, but that didn’t mean there weren’t any. He barely went out.

The bushes to his right rustled and Daniel didn’t stick around to find out who he’d pissed off. In bear terms, he was still a cub, only twenty three, and whoever was coming was bigger than him – which took some doing but was possible. Never get between a bear and his food. Why his mother’s sage piece of wisdom chose to flow through his mind now, Daniel didn’t stop to find out. Pushing through the bushes to his left, Daniel put on a burst of speed, running blindly back to where he’d left his car.

Hearing a growl behind him, Daniel risked a quick look over his shoulder. Two of them, double fuck. Daniel didn’t fight – ever. He liked to joke he was a lover not a fighter, but he was lacking lover experience as well. And if those two lumbering brutes behind him caught up with him, he’d never get a chance to make his dreams a reality.

Got to get to the car, got to get too… shit. Bursting through the tree line, Daniel could have slapped himself for his stupidity, except his paws were too busy trying to put more distance between himself and the bears chasing him. His brand new bright red Prius sat mocking him on the side of the road. Running towards it, Daniel risked another look back. The massive black bears were just coming through the last of the trees. I don’t have time to fucking shift.

With a lingering whimper as he ran around his car, Daniel took off down the road. His chest was heaving, and the pavement was scorching his paw pads, but Daniel couldn’t afford to stop. He’d come back for his car, his phone, his keys, his wallet and everything else he’d left in his ‘too-small-for-his-bear-form’ vehicle later – a lot later when hopefully the bears chasing him would be gone. I knew I should have bought a truck. It was going to be a long run home.

Bear Mountain Cometh...

I know I posted last week about the issues I was having with my muse... and how I was really struggling with life in general and the lack of stories circling in my brain...

BUT...

I feel like I might be crawling out of the black pit of despair, slowly but surely.

I actually finished an outline for ONE of the books I'd mentioned and I'm back to writing. I'd already had it partially written (some scenes here and there that had come to me), so now it's just a matter of putting them into place and connecting the dots; adding more flesh to the bones.

So what was that ONE book?

A Bear Mountain story.

I know I've told some of you guys that I was planning a Return to Bear Mountain/Next Generation series...

NO... this book is NOT in that series.... but YES, I still am planning to write RTBM.

But in my quest to get all my p's and q's in place, I re-read the entire Bear Mountain series, took copious notes, and let some ideas churn.

And I noticed I'd never told the story of Declan's YOUNGER brothers Kai and Landon.

They were mentioned at Gregor's funeral and then never showed up in the series again. In my mind, I knew where they were. I just forgot to tell you guys...

They aren't the next generation. They're about the same age as many of the McCreary boys.

So it didn't feel right to include them in a next generation series.

Kai and his brother bear Lane will be book 21. Landon and his brother bear, Chase, will be book 22.

Both of these stories will be post-Zed and a bit of a bridge between the stories that have already come and the new ones to come in the Return series.

Neither have firm titles yet, but I *HOPE* to have book 21 coming to you the end of October.

Pre-order: Theirs by Bond (Bear Mountain, 1.5)

(Pre-order links at bottom of page)

Starting back in March, I started re-reading the Bear Mountain books one by one, one per week. As I shared in the "Hating on Tyler McCreary" post, I've been meeting with readers on Tuesday nights in my Facebook group to share insights, trash talk mistakes, answer questions, and basically just have a fun hour of talking shit...

We just finished reading book 15 this past Tuesday... so we're already past the 3/4 mark. (We've decided to do Project Zed books, too, as we've had so much fun. We might do other books after that.)

Along the way, I've noted any typos and have been slowly working to clean up and fix them before re-releasing.

I've also had moments where I could kick myself in the ass... "why didn't I..." do this or that. Or characters have whispered in my ear as I re-read, telling me a little more about themselves, more than they told me the first time around.

Honestly, I've also had a few awesome, out of left field questions from points of view that aren't mine. My readers are amazing and point out things I couldn't see from my own point of view.

A couple of ladies in particular ask me tough questions and keep me on my toes! They know who they are.

So I had all these new scenes and ideas swirling in my mind as I re-read...

And then I realized... I can do something about this.

I can write them.

Bound by Two Bears wasn't supposed to be a 20+ book series with two spin-offs. I had been working on a book that just wasn't coming together. I was frustrated. I decided to take a break from that story and write something else. Just as I was toying with the idea of writing some bear shifters, a reader asked me why I hadn't wrote any menage stories in a while—she wanted some moresomes, dammit!

BOOM. Bound to Two Bears came into my mind.

It was supposed to be a quick, insta-love story—heavy on the sex. I wanted something fun and fluffy to get my mind off of the book that was driving me nuts.

And then Bear Mountain became what it did, and I've regretted not giving that story a bit more world building. It also makes me sad many people didn't like Royce...

I have the power to fix that. It just took me a while to realize I had that power.

So Theirs by Bond was born.

In the epilogue to Bound to Two Bears, we see Carson big and preggers, nearly ready to pop.

What happened between the end of the last chapter and the epilogue?

Theirs by Bond will give you a little insight into this time period... when things were still new and Carson, Jared, and Royce were still figuring things out and getting comfortable.

And a little uncomfortable... as they were trying to turn that lust into love.

* * * *

Before the Book One Epilogue... get a peek into Carson, Royce, and Jared's early relationship...

Without much thought, Carson gave up his life in the human world to move to Bear Mountain and live with his mates, Jared and Royce. The bond he experienced with his two bears had felt so powerful, that he’d plunged in headfirst, ready for a new adventure.

As time has worn on, the potent insta-lust they felt in those first days fades some and the weight of a new, burgeoning romance falls on their shoulders. Adding in a new wrinkle, doubts form that threaten their chance at forever.

They all soon discover that a relationship demands work on all sides. It will take commitment to propel them from the lust of their animal mating to the love they all sensed was possible from the start.

Unless secrets tear them apart first.

NEW RELEASE: Dead by Midnight (Midnight, Mississippi, 3)

EILAM'S STORY IS HERE!

I know there have been a lot of you asking if Eilam would EVER get his story told. Well, it's finally here.

A pain in the ass mate wasn’t what Eilam expected on his first day on the job as the head of Midnight’s security. Life would’ve been much easier without, especially since his mate refused him and his brother bear, Noah.

Especially since his mate is the King of Midnight.

Adriel, Son of Theral, has felt the connection to Eilam from the moment the bear shifter walked into his throne room months before. He refused the man then and there, and refused to meet “the other one,” knowing full well he couldn’t handle two bear shifters in their prime and still walk away unclaimed.

But when Eilam is attacked and on the brink of death, Adriel comes face to face with his feelings, as well as finally confronting Noah—the man he’s denied for months. Add in the whole assassination plot and a vast conspiracy, and Adriel’s had better weeks.

Surrender could mean the end of their world. Adriel is torn between the two men he can’t ignore and the needs of the many. Will his duty to Midnight prevent his happily ever after?

Adriel felt his body tense. Being alone with Eilam was growing harder by the day. He picked up his quill and leaned over his desk. “Make it quick. I’ve had too many interruptions today as it is.”

He sensed the bear shifter move closer.

“We’ve had several reports of an increased vampire presence inside Midnight,” Eilam said as he sat across the desk from the king. “They’re not coming through the terminals, or we’d have them on the logs. They’re likely using an illegal portal somewhere in this city.”

Adriel listened to the bear shifter seated opposite him without lifting his stare. His lack of attention wasn’t out of rudeness or lack of time, but a knowledge that one look in the man’s direction would cause his cool, calm exterior to shatter. From the corner of his eye, he saw enough to make his pulse race, his breathing quicken, and his cock thicken.

“Come now, Eilam… you must know by now that there are illegal portals springing up all over this city. It’s one of the reasons I have to employ men like you to protect Midnight,” he said as he made a note on one of the parchments on his sprawling, ornate desk.

Even without looking, he could sense the ire coming at him in waves from Eilam.

“I am aware,” the man said, his tone slightly lower and darker. “I only meant that we might want to focus our efforts on closing more of them. A task force, solely focused on the illegal movement of people in and out of this city. I might need to hire more men… though I have a few in mind from the Midnight PD. I need your approval to make it happen.”

“Hire as you like,” Adriel said, waving a hand before making another note. “If there’s nothing else?”

Eilam grew silent. Adriel was finally forced to lift his stare. Across from him, Eilam was livid, his eyes glowing brightly. Even with that anger brewing on Eilam’s face, meeting the man’s stare was enough to set off the lust simmering within Adriel.

Hire as I like?”

Adriel leaned back, frowning. “I gave you what you want… so why am I suddenly the focus of your anger?”

“I’ve been trying to bring in new king’s guards for months now and you refuse them all. I’ve made recommendations for re-organizing the police department and making it more productive. I’ve made dozens of suggestions, only to have most of them refused.” Eilam rose to his feet and placed both fists on the desk, looming over Adriel. “I would love to be able to do my job effectively, but you make that impossible.”

Adriel looked up at Eilam, his body throbbing with want.

Succumb and he’ll win. I am ruler of this world. I won’t be controlled.

“I still don’t understand your anger… I just gave you what you asked for, yet I get attitude in return. I am particular about my guards and have every right to be. My king’s guard is at my side, day and night.” Adriel rose to his feet as well, refusing to cower. “And I think you may forget yourself and to whom you speak.”

Eilam snarled for a moment before lifting his chin arrogantly. “I would never place someone on your personal guard I did not trust completely. My only desire is to protect you.”

Since you won’t let it be me who protects you…

Eilam hadn’t spoken the words, but they might as well have been. They hung heavily in the air between them. Adriel wanted to escape… to put distance between him and this man who thought Adriel was his mate.

I am.

I belong to him.

Until the pair finds their mate amongst the residents.

Omega Cotton doesn’t want to believe it. He loves Dillon and has set his sights on having the male for his own. While Dillon is away on an errand for the alpha, Ari and Nikos press their case, confusing Cotton’s already raw feelings.

Dillon looked at the touch screen of his cell and saw Tyler’s name. He was in no mood for his pain in the ass brother, so he ignored the call and went back to drawing the mock-up of the entrance gate. When the phone vibrated again seconds later and he saw Tyler’s name again, he shoved the cell back into his pocket.
By the third time, he wondered if there truly was some kind of emergency and ultimately clicked through to the call.
“This better be important,” Dillon snapped.
“You might want to wrap up that trip of yours as soon as possible, little brother.”
Dillon frowned. “Why’s that?”
“Cotton’s mates just showed up to town.”

NEW RELEASE - A Bear for Two Big Cats

Henry Ashland takes one look across the dinner table at two of the hottest males he’s ever seen and hatches a plan to dive head first into some outrageous trouble. After a late night race across Bear Mountain—one Henry might or might not have thrown—he has to offer up payment in the form of his body. At the end of a wild round of sex, Henry knows one night will never be enough with the lusty felines, but the ground rules had been set in stone before their little game commenced.

No strings, one night of fun. No more, no less.

Lion shifter Leo can’t get the bear out of his mind after their night together, no matter the rules. But their ménage has opened an old wound between him and his best friend, cheetah shifter, Speed—one that might never heal.

When Speed turns his back on Leo, telling the lion to move on without him, Leo has a choice to make—save a dying relationship or seek out a new one with Henry.

But Henry has ideas of his own. He’ll sacrifice his own chance at a happily ever after in the process.

A languid smile crossed Speed’s handsome face. His full lips looked so damned kissable that Henry nearly leaned in and tested his hypothesis.

“That’s some kind of smack talk you got going there, bear.” Speed cast a glance at Leo before turning back to Henry. “We gonna let him get away with that?”

Speed’s smile was apparently contagious. It began to cross Leo’s face as well. “I suppose we should have him put his money where his mouth is. What’s the wager, Henry?”

Henry’s heart thundered in his chest. Here was his chance. He just had to find the right words…

“I win… I, of course, get bragging rights…” His mind raced, and he tried to get the nerve to offer what he really wanted to offer. But fear made him chicken out at the last second. “And you two have to cook dinner for two weeks at my house… and do the dishes.”

Cook dinner? Dishes? Could he get any lamer?

Speed looked toward Leo before the both of them slowly turned back and eyed him closely.

“And if you lose?” Speed asked, one brow arching over a golden eye.

Say it! Fucking say it. “I don’t know. What… do you want?”

Speed turned and looked at Leo again before they both nodded, silently agreeing to whatever was to come. Speed turned back, that wicked grin of his growing even wider. “You lose, we take you to bed for the night.”

Heat blazed through his body, Speed voicing the words he’d been too cowardly to speak. He closed his eyes a moment, his equilibrium making him sway some in the cool night air. The earth felt like it had slipped on its axis and the whole world was tilting to one side. When it finally righted itself, he pinned Speed with a stare.

Henry felt his lips move, but no sound came out. His mouth grew dry, the Sahara taking up residency between his teeth and uvula. He watched the heated looks growing on both male’s faces, and it only added to the inferno within.

His cock was hard as stone in an instant—although it had been at half-mast most of the night, thinking about these two surrounding him. The thought of being their boy toy for the night had his mind incapable of conscious thought.

“Agreed?” Speed asked, taking a step closer and making it even harder for Henry to think straight.

He took a step back unconsciously. It was the last thing he wanted to do—to make the pair think he wasn’t interested, if they truly wanted what he thought they wanted. His feet worked with a mind of their own.

“All that smack talk dry up?” Leo asked, grinning.

“I knew he’d think twice when he heard the terms,” Speed said. “Too bad.” Both males turned away.

“Agreed,” Henry spat, his dry mouth and throat spitting the words out, the sound raw and uncertain.

Leo and Speed twisted to face him again. The nearly full moon overhead washed over them, giving them an eerie, ghostly look. It didn’t take away from their good looks. It only made them shine in the night, their skin glowing under the illumination.

“Agreed,” Henry reiterated, a little more firmly the second time around. He relaxed his body, as much as he could, acting as if every muscle hadn’t grown taut with anticipation. “If you win, which is doubtful,” he added, knowing he was most definitely talking pure and utter trash at this stage.

He had no plans of winning their contest. Not when the reward for losing was what he truly wanted.

Speed’s smile returned. “If we win? There’s no way in hell I’m losing.”

The pair finally left, and Paul could breathe again.

The wolf trailed a few steps behind the duo and watched through the swinging doors as they left the store. He turned and eyed Paul carefully.

“You okay?”

Paul met the man’s stare and really allowed himself a moment to take in the wolf’s appearance. He was gorgeous, but not necessarily in a pretty guy kind of way. His features were sort of plain, all but his silver eyes and heavily fringed lashes. What made him truly attractive was a sense of raw power rippling under the surface.

He drew in a deep breath, the warm scent growing stronger. “Yeah… I’m good… thanks.”

“These guys come in here often?”

Paul shook his head. “Every once in a while when they’re hard up and in between pieces of ass. I seem to be the default when they have no one else to sexually harass.”

“Fun, fun,” the wolf said. “We can take care of that.”

Paul frowned. “While I appreciate the assistance, I don’t need anyone fighting my battles.”

“That’s too bad, Paul.”

Paul tilted his head, confused. “Who are you?”

“Tristan.”

Paul stood a moment, waiting for more information than a name. When it was apparent no more was coming, he prodded further. “And?”

Tristan’s eyes flashed, and he looked away. He gazed at the back of the store, appearing interested in the boring scenery. The scent filled the air, wrapping itself around Paul. He knew it had to be coming from Tristan.

“I work with Deacon. I was asked to swing by the store to make sure you two were okay.”

“I don’t need Daddy Deacon keeping tabs on us.”

“He’s not keeping tabs on you. The request came from your father.”

Paul paused a moment, observing the male. “If my father wants to keep an eye on us, he can do it from here—without sending one of Deacon’s dogs to prowl around,” he said, unsure why he felt so incensed. Deacon had likely sent Tristan in an attempt to keep Glenn happy.

While Paul still wasn’t completely on board with his father finding love again, he was trying to be supportive.

A hand snaked out and grabbed his arm as he tried to pass the wolf.

He was dragged closer, and his heart slammed into his chest. Thumping away madly, he didn’t understand the sensation. More of the rich scent filled the space around them.

“I’m no dog,” Tristan growled. “No obedient hound at Deacon’s feet. I did a favor for a friend’s mate—one that seemed to be perfectly timed in my opinion.”

“I could’ve handled them.” It wasn’t the first time Jericho had gotten into his space.

“You shouldn’t have to handle them. They should leave you alone… if that’s truly what you want.”

Paul’s head whipped to the side. “What does that mean?”

Tristan shrugged. “Some people get off on playing the victim.”

“You think I’d encourage that kind of behavior?” Paul yanked his arm away. “I wasn’t playing the victim.”

“You didn’t fight. You just stood there, letting that asshole touch you.”

“Because fighting only leaves you bruised and broken. Trust me. I know from experience.”

A flash came to those silver eyes. “They’ve hurt you before?”

He watched a tick form at the side of the male’s brow. “Nothing major. They like showing off how strong they are when I fight back. So, I don’t provoke them anymore. Don’t poke the bears.”

Tristan stepped closer, inhaling Paul’s scent. “That’s no way to live.”

Paul clenched his jaw, trying not to drink in the scent of the man before him.

Tristan stared down. The wolf was several inches taller than Paul, and his chest was much wider and more muscled. His palms itched to spread along the wolf’s body and feel the heat and strength there.

“No one should have to live with a bully in their life.”

Paul met the male’s stare. “Not like I can make them suddenly disappear.”

“No, but they can have leashes put on them if they can’t control themselves.”

Paul chuckled. “I’d like to see someone try that. It won’t end pretty.”

“We’ll see,” Tristan said before backing away. He faced Paul until he reached the swinging doors. He spun and exited, leaving Paul standing there trembling.

Henry pressed one of the swinging doors open, a stupid grin on his face. “Well, well—your knight in shining armor got in here faster than I could.”

Paul felt his face flame. “He’s not my knight in shining armor.”

Glenn began ringing up the sale and watching the other male from the corner of his eye. Once the transaction was complete, he bid the male goodbye before another basket landed on his counter.

That icy blue stare met his, and Glenn felt a rush blow through his body. He drew in the male’s scent… only to come up short. Nothing? How could he have no scent?

A flicker of a smile crossed the male’s lips. “My name is Deacon. Am I to guess you are the proprietor here?”

Glenn nodded. “I am.”

“I understand you’ve been having some problems with getting supplies into your store.”

Glenn used the back of his hand to brush a bit of sweat and hair from his eyes. He’d spent all morning hauling cases of food and necessities and was sure he looked like hell. “You could say that.”

“The alpha has asked me to come up with a plan that will help with transit. I’d like to hear your concerns.”

Another customer stopped behind Deacon, basket laden. Glenn waved the male on and took the basket. “Gold or barter?”

“I brought the twelve dozen eggs and put them in your cooler,” the male said. “The rest, I’ll pay in silver, if that’s okay?”

“Sure thing.” Glenn started ringing up the order, eyeing Deacon. Any other time, he could get one of his boys to man the register, but the shelves desperately needed filling. “Mornings are always real busy for me. Maybe you can come back later.”

“What are you doing tonight?” Deacon asked.

Glenn shrugged, caught off guard by the question. “I don’t know… nothing, I suppose.”

“Then you can have dinner with me. Mountain Inn, say, seven o’clock?”

Glenn froze a moment, as did several of the customers nearby as they turned to look and be nosy.

His own mouth dropped, a little stunned.

Deacon smiled, and Glenn was sure he felt it right down to the tips of his toes. “So you can tell me your issues and concerns, of course. You seem like a busy man, but you’ve got to eat, right?”

Glenn nodded. “Yeah. I can meet you there at seven.”

“Good,” Deacon said with a wide grin before leaving his basket behind and heading for the door.

“Wait, do you need this?” Glenn said, grabbing the basket.

Deacon turned with a wicked grin. He lifted one brow. “Bring them with you. If you’d like.”

Glenn slid the basket across the counter and looked inside. There was a bottle of lube and a box of condoms. Heat flooded his face. Lifting his gaze, he watched Deacon’s back disappear through the door.

Need slammed into him like nothing he’d felt in years. Decades. His tongue moved out to wet his lips as he felt his cock thicken in his jeans. A shudder raced through him.

“Glenn?”

Turning back to the customer he was midway through ringing up, he froze. All eyes were on him. Heat filled his face once more before he tucked Deacon’s basket out of sight. Embarrassment made it hard to breathe as he continued to ring the male up, as well as the two after him.

Once the counter emptied, Henry sauntered over, a broad smile on his lips. “Got a date tonight, Pops?”

Glenn violently shook his head. Perhaps a bit too violently. “I’m a bit old for dates.”

“Old? Sure,” his twenty-year old said with a grin… a grin quickly that faded. “But you’re still alive."
