Coming Soon! One Wild Omega (Alphas of the Western Provinces, 2)

One Wild Omega
Alphas of the Western Provinces, 2

Tanner's story is coming soon!

(Unedited blurb)

From the first moment they met, Tanner McCreary and Fitz Walker have always had a love-hate relationship. One that bordered more on the latter, much to the chagrin of Tanner—who knew from first glance that Fitz was his alpha. For some reason, Fitz acted like he wanted absolutely nothing to do with him. Even with the scent masking drug, Scentex, keeping them free, an omega’s alphas always seemed to sense something in the air when close.

But that wasn’t the case with Fitz.

So Tanner backed off, licked his wounds, and figured fate would lead them back together someday. Maybe then things would be different.

Someday came, but only made the situation worse. Tanner learned they shared a close friend in common—another omega—one Fitz eventually bedded. Brokenhearted, Tanner was sure the gods, fate, or whoeverwas in charge of binding an alpha and an omega together had gotten it very, very wrong.

His mate wasn’tthe one apparently. Tanner lied to himself, saying he didn’t care, and kept his secret close. When the truth finally emerges, Fitz knows he has mountains to climb to make things right, and even that might not be enough.

Special Sunday Spotlight - Frey Ortega and Warmth of His Light

Welcome Frey Ortega back to this special Sunday Spotlight. I know I haven't had many of these, as of late, but Frey got me out of my hibernation :) Check out the first Blanchard Coven book, Warmth of His Light!

****

When Eos Hawthorne went to meet a friend one evening, he never expected his entire life to change. As if stumbling across a group of men fighting in an abandoned lot by his home wasn’t shocking enough—one of those men suddenly attacks him...with fangs and claws.

Vampire coven leader Julien Blanchard is having a bad day. After failing to apprehend a murderer and traitor to his coven, the absolute last thing he needed was a hapless human stumbling into the picture— especially an intriguing young man who, as it turns out, happens to be his mate.

Eos doesn't know if he believes in mating, and knows nothing about the supernatural world he is suddenly thrust into. Julien is a vampire who has always put his coven and his duty first.

Will their burgeoning love be enough to see Eos safely through the dangers he finds himself in? And even more so, can it make the cold-blooded Julien relinquish control and embrace Eos, and the warmth of his light?

Warmth of His Light is the first book of the Blanchard Coven series. It is M/M, HEA, and complete at 61,287 words.

Available on Kindle Unlimited

Eos took a couple of steps back, almost as though he were right there in the midst of the action. He didn’t see anything else but the indistinct silhouette of bodies moving that he’d forgotten about the alley behind him, thinking he was about to get slashed at. Eos took a couple of steps back…and managed to hit his back loudly against what seemed to be a rather empty dumpster with a loud clang.

Well, it was mostly empty—except for a cat that gave an irritated yowl at being disturbed. It promptly sprung out at Eos, surprising him and making him jump.

“Shit!” Eos cussed. He twisted away, but his center of gravity was messed up by the sudden cat-attack and the fact that he had forgotten there was even a dumpster there at all. Eos fell flat on his rear right beside the dumpster…which he now noticed was leaking underneath.

But thank God I didn’t trip into the puddle of…whatever the hell that is. Eos wretched, fighting down the urge to barf.

Eos grimaced and not just because of the unidentified liquid dripping from underneath the dumpster that he was almost about to touch. Maybe the worst thing about this entire situation was that he had dropped his burger and soda, and now they were all over the concrete floor. Little cubes of ice splattered all over the now-very-wet pavement, some of which soaked into the wrapper of the once-pristine burger. He furrowed his eyebrows and frowned as he looked at what was supposed to be a nice little midnight snack.

“What a waste,” he muttered, and wobbled up to his feet. Eos checked himself for any scrapes or wounds, but aside from a sore butt and a bruised ego at being caught unaware by a cat, he was fine.

When Eos looked up, however, he’d noticed that the men he was eavesdropping on had stopped whatever they were doing and were now looking at him. Now, with their eyes trained on him, he could actually see their features more clearly.

They all suddenly had crimson-colored eyes, the color of blood, and the only reason Eos noticed was because they shone for the briefest moment when they trained their eyes on him. Didn’t one of them have blue eyes, earlier? And another had green ones, the color of forest foliage. The lanky one who was being surrounded had his teeth bared. No, not teeth—fangs.

Eos gulped. “Holy shit.”

Not only were the men blurs when they moved and fought, but they were…demonic blurs. Beastly blurs. Sexy, unsettling, demonic blurs.

That’s when he realized that the lanky, cornered man—with the eyes of a blood-crazed beast, the fangs of a demon, and the frenzy of an animal with nothing to lose—had broken through the three of them, and was now running straight for Eos.

As Eos closed his eyes and curled into a ball, one final thought came into his head…

I knew I shouldn’t have left the house today.

Sunday Spotlight - M.A. Church and Night's Fall

Welcome M.A. Church back to Sunday Spotlight! She's sharing her recent release - Night's Fall.

***

Things do go bump in the night.

Running from a tragic loss, worrying over a missing brother, and flustered about dreams he can’t explain, Michael James searches for a peaceful place to call home. A quaint little town on the Florida coast promises to be just what he needs to start a new life.

Then myth clashes with reality, and Michael’s life is upended. Vampires, werewolves, and other magical paranormals prowl the city of Mystic Bay, his new home.

And not all of them are friendly.

Clayton Night, a seductive, powerful vampire, desires more than Michael’s blood—he wants Michael for eternity. The mighty
Clay Night has fallen, but can his love keep Michael safe from an enemy seeking revenge?

As darkness closes in, Michael has a choice to make—a short mortal life or an eternity of love and danger?

Previously published as Darkness Awaits. This book has been revised and expanded considerably from its original version to alter both characters and plot events to enhance the reader’s enjoyment
.

Michael shivered, scowling at his reluctant shaft. “Come on, come on, come on.”
Any other time his bladder would’ve been more than happy to oblige him, but since he was in a rush to get back before he missed anything good, the damn thing was being all shy and stuff. Plus, it was freaking cold in there. Why did movie theaters dothat?
Then the bathroom lights flickered and went out.
Michael, his cock still in his hand, jumped. “Are you fucking kidding me?”
Fortunately, there was enough light coming underneath the door so he could see somewhat. Why did this shit always—
The hair stood up on the back of Michael’s neck. Shit! He’d experienced that enough lately to know something bad was about to happen. He needed to get out this bathroom, pronto.
Before he could stuff his cock back in his jeans, cool fingers wrapped around his shaft as another arm banded across his chest. Fuck no.This couldn’t be happening. No way could this be happening again.
“Now, now. I would advise you not to move, my lovely little human.”
Once more he found himself trapped in a steely embrace. Michael’s heart skipped, then pounded violently. This was like that nightmare—a body was pressed close behind, holding him tightly. Only this time the thing had its hand on his cock. His mind shrieked for him to run, but his feet were stuck to the floor.
He looked down. A pale hand with black-tipped claws held his dick. Helplessly, Michael shook his head… as if that could wipe away what he was seeing. His breath stuttered in his chest. Fuck if he was going to move. That thing was holding a part of his anatomy he was rather fond of.
Unnaturally cold lips caressed the side of his throat. Revolted, Michael couldn’t stop the whine that climbed up his throat.
“Time to face facts. This is no dream. Vampires exist, my pretty little human. I am as real as you are.”
He wasn’t dreaming. He knew he wasn’t dreaming, just like he hadn’t been dreaming that night in his condo either.
“Oh God, oh God.” Michael gawked at the long black claws slowly trailing over his limp dick. “What… what do you want?”
“You’ll find out soon enough.”
A fang brushed his neck, and Michael cringed.
“I’m tempted to taste you, but no. Not yet. But soon. It won’t be long now, Michael.”
Oh fuck, it knows my name. He’d heard those words before, dammit, but this time they struck fear in his heart. The lights blinked, then came back on. Michael stood at the urinal, staring at his cock.
“Hey, dude, you okay?”
Michael flinched and jerked his head up. A young guy, maybe a few years younger than him, had entered the restroom and was giving him an odd look.
Panicked, Michael wildly glanced around. Where was the fucker? The lights were back on and as bright as when he’d entered the restroom. No one stood next to him. The only hand on his cock was his own. He glanced around again. Nope. Still no vampire to be seen—unless the guy stopping next to him was one. For some reason he didn’t think so.
“Dude?”
“Huh?” Michael asked, dragging his attention back to the person speaking to him.
The guy nodded toward him. “You sure you’re okay? You’ve been stand there holding yourself and doing nothing for a minute or so.”
Oh good Lord, he had?
“Do I need to go get help or something?”
Help? Ha! Unless the stranger had a vat of holy water, he didn’t think so. Would that even work?
Speaking of water… a stream of urine suddenly splashed into the urinal. Oh-kay. Nice of his bladder to finally get with the program.

And great news -- you can grab book 1 for FREE to check out the series!

Luke accompanied his Alpha to the fae court to do his job, nothing more. Since his mate’s death, he’s been fine with a few nights of solace here and there. He’s never needed anything more than that.

But his gaze keeps drifting to one fae in particular—Dane, the best friend of his Alpha’s newly found mate. When he finds out a human hurt Dane years ago, his protective instincts rise and refuse to be calmed. Protective feelings soon turn possessive as he learns more about the beautiful fae. Dane’s more than willing to come to his bed, but Luke wants more than that. Far, far more.

Luke fought the desire to leave his Alpha’s side as they strolled through the silk-clad crowd with the king. He’d been brought to the fae court to do a job for Gregor, not to find someone to warm his bed. He frowned as he thought about just how cold his bed had been recently, how big and empty it had felt since his mate Sabina’s death two years ago. He glanced to Gregor once more. He’s right. Sabina would be sad, maybe even angry, to see me alone the rest of my life.

His gaze roamed the courtyard and found Dane again. The beautiful blond fae drew him like no other had since Sabina, even though they hadn’t even spoken to each other yet. It made Luke wonder if, this time, he might find more than a single night of comfort with someone. Luke cast his eyes down when Dane looked up. He’d already been caught staring more than once, and by more than one person.

He’s Jared’s best friend. Once Gregor and Jared are mated, Dane will be around all the time. I won’t be able to hide my attraction to him. I can’t even hide it now. He looked over to Dane yet again. He’s so beautiful. He must have admirers, even if he is shy, as the king said.

Luke cut his gaze over when Gregor cleared his throat. “Yes, my Alpha?” he asked.

“You said you wish to speak for yourself instead of letting others play matchmaker. Go do it. That’s an order,” Gregor said, pointing over to Dane.

“You don’t require my services for a while?” Luke asked.

Gregor rolled his eyes. “Stop talking like that. You’ve been doing it ever since we arrived. If I wanted to hear someone talk as if he’s from another century, I’d have brought Vadik instead.”

Luke smiled a moment, wondering what the fae here would think of the large, brutish Beta who was always armed and patrolled their pack lands like a warrior from another time. “I have a duty, best performed at your side, just as Vadik is doing his duty best by watching over our pack,” Luke said. “And we’re in a royal court. I’m trying to act appropriately.”

“Yes, you do have a duty. Obeying me.” Gregor stepped closer. “March over there and introduce yourself. As my mate’s closest friend, Dane will be an honored guest of ours. Often, I would think.” The Alpha smiled. “You two should be well acquainted.”

Luke turned slightly toward King Asmund, who was making a point of looking the other way and pretending not to hear them. So alert to everything around him yet so polite. Not sure our pack is ready for the cunning subtlety of the fae just yet. But he shook that thought off and nodded. “Whatever my Alpha wishes,” Luke said, earning another eye roll from Gregor.

Luke’s heart beat faster as he made his way through the crowd that had gathered to watch The Hunt, an old fae ritual that had been resurrected to commemorate Gregor and Jared’s mating. Luke still didn’t completely understand the game Gregor and Jared were playing with each other, but at least it would be over soon.

When Luke was only a few feet away from Dane, the blond man turned toward him, a faint smile on his face as he leaned against the palace wall. The exterior of the palace consisted of sparkling gray stones, with blue slate on the roof. Purple vines unlike any Luke had ever seen before twined all over the building, and they seemed to sparkle at times as well. The beautiful backdrop only made Dane even more attractive. Luke’s throat constricted as he closed the distance between them. “Dane?” he said quietly, feeling as if the noise of the crowd was already fading away as he approached the spot where Dane stood alone.

“Yes,” Dane said as he pushed away from the wall.

“I’m Luke, Gregor’s Beta.”

Dane smiled, his green eyes so bright they seemed to almost glow. “I know. I’ve seen you patrolling.”

Luke struggled for words, settling on saying, “Gregor and the king thought we should meet.”

“Because I’m close to Jared?”

“Yes, but—” Luke took a step forward, “I wanted to introduce myself anyway.”

Dane’s cheeks went a little pink. “You’ve caught me staring?” he said, with a little laugh.

“Just as you’ve caught me staring, if I’m not mistaken.” Luke moved forward one more step. “The king says you’re a scholar. You’ve been researching us since the negotiations started.”

“His Majesty called me a scholar?” Dane said, a broad smile coming to his face.

“He did. Said you’re an excellent scholar. That you two discuss history and other things some nights.”

“His Majesty has always taken an interest in me. We’re alike in our interests, plus I befriended Jared when other children our age were still a little wary of him because of his shifter blood. The king is a very good man. We couldn’t have a more loving monarch.”

“It certainly sounds like you love him.”

Dane looked up. “Yes, but not like that. He’s like a big brother or uncle, in a way.” His eyes took on a faraway look as he said, “He even saved my life once.” His expression cleared as he smiled, but the curve of his lips seemed forced this time.

“He did?” Luke thought back to what the king had said about Dane being attacked by a human, and his wolf growled deep inside. He wanted to ask questions, but he couldn’t be sure how Dane would feel about the king having revealed that information. Above all else, he didn’t want to scare Dane off.

Dane nodded. “Yes.” He gave a little shrug. “I was young and careless. Got into some trouble in the human world.”

“Humans cause a lot of trouble,” Luke said. And I’d like to cause trouble for the man who hurt you, even if the king insists he took care of the swine.

“At least you can walk among them without drawing too much attention,” Dane said. He pushed his hair behind one of his delicate pointed ears, the one outward sign he wasn’t an ordinary man. “I’m very good at glamouring them, but I still stand out in the human world.”

“Most humans have never seen anyone as beautiful as you are,” Luke said, reaching out and running two fingers over Dane’s jaw.

Dane drew in a deep breath but didn’t step back, though his eyes flicked down.

Luke let his hand drop. “I’m being too forward.”

“No, you aren’t,” Dane said, coming closer. He had to tilt his head back because Luke towered over him. “I’m … not used to getting much attention.”

“That surprises me.” Luke turned to look around at the other fae gathered in the courtyard. “Everyone here is attractive, but in my opinion, you surpass all of them.”

Dane’s gaze wandered over him. “Everyone is talking about you and your Alpha. How handsome and strong you are. Even the tallest and most muscular among us don’t compare to you two.”

“We’re different. That’s the appeal. Back among my pack, I blend into the background quite easily.”

Dane frowned a bit. “You seem different from Gregor. Gentler and more thoughtful.”

“Gentler? More reserved, perhaps.”

The other man studied his face a long time. Luke wanted to bridge the distance between them and brush their lips together, but he sensed that wasn’t why Dane was staring at him. “You seem sad.”

“Do I?” Luke said, taken aback.

“Yes,” Dane said, nodding slowly.

“Perhaps I am a little sad right now.” He nodded toward Gregor, who stood talking with the king and two other fae. “I’m happy Gregor has found his mate, but … it does make me sad because my own mate is dead.”

Dane’s eyes widened. “I’m so sorry. What happened to him?”

“Her, actually. Her name was Sabina. We found each other a little less than three years ago. We had ten months together, and then she died.” He swallowed and took a fortifying breath. “Cancer. Wolves are strong, but many human diseases still kill us.”

Dane reached for Luke’s hand, his eyes glistening. “I’m very sorry. I can’t imagine what it’s like, given all I’ve read about the power of the bond.”

“I wasn’t exactly myself for months. Gregor was a good friend to me in those days when I snapped and snarled at everyone and everything.”

“You must have loved her very much.” A tear spilled down each of Dane’s cheeks.

“I did. But I didn’t mean to come over here and make you sad.” He squeezed Dane’s hand in his and reached his other hand up to wipe at one of the tears.

Dane drew back and wiped at his cheeks. “Sorry.”

“Sorry? For what?”

“If I hadn’t said anything about you looking sad, you wouldn’t have been forced to think about it.”

He shook his head slowly. “I think about it almost every day. You did nothing wrong.” He took Dane’s hand again. “I’m sorry I brought up something so serious when we’re supposed to be celebrating.”

Dane looked around at all the other fae drinking wine and eating, talking and laughing. “They all think this was planned for their amusement. A throwback to celebrate the alliance between wolves and the fae.”

“Gregor and I were discussing that. How no one else knows that Jared really was resisting the mating. That he and Gregor are … you know, I don’t even understand it.”

“Jared’s being stubborn. He’s fallen for Gregor completely, but he’s trying to prove a point because Gregor made decisions without talking to him first. I think he’s glad Gregor read about The Hunt and decided to invoke it. He wants to yield to the Alpha, but he’s struggling with that first step.”

“Wants to submit without being seen as submissive?”

Dane nodded.

“They’ll both be happier once this is settled. He’ll soon realize that he’s going to be the one really wielding the power in their relationship.”

“How is Gregor? Is it harder to be denied because he’s an Alpha?”

Luke laughed. “To hear him tell it, yes, it’s much harder to be denied. He’s maintaining appearances well enough, but I can feel his longing when I’m near him. His wolf is going crazy because they haven’t claimed Jared yet.”

Dane looked to the forest. “I’m sure Jared won’t go far into the woods. Won’t make him work too hard.”

“It’s the perfect way to claim him. Very primal.”

Dane’s brows came together. “It’s a little confusing, the way shifters refer to their other half. Is your wolf truly like a separate being, or a part of yourself? You said they just now, talking about Gregor claiming Jared.”

“That’s very hard to explain to a non-shifter, but I can try.” He leaned against the wall, pleased when Dane came to lean beside him. He looked down into the beautiful man’s eyes and said, “I definitely feel as if my wolf is an independent being. Yet he’s a part of me. He’s with me now, listening to everything and watching you. Communicating with me. And when I’m shifted, I’m there inside of him doing the same thing. Neither of us ever fully retreats or gives over control completely. We are different in many ways. Think differently. Even disagree and argue with each other.”

“Did your wolf want to meet me as much as you did?” Dane asked.

Luke licked his lips. “My wolf is very interested in you. And likes that you aren’t as shy as I was told.”

Dane looked wary. “Everyone says I’m shy.”

“You don’t think of yourself as shy?”

Dane shook his head. “I’m quiet. It’s not the same.”

Smiling, Luke turned toward Dane. “Perhaps others say you’re shy because they want to know you better. They’re frustrated you’re making them work for it.”

“If I’m worth it, they shouldn’t consider it work.”

“True,” Luke said, anxious to touch Dane and trying to find a way to hold back. “Would you like to see my wolf?”

Dane’s face lit up. “I’d love that. Wolves are beautiful, and I’ve never seen a shifter in animal form before.”

Luke pushed away from the wall and glanced to the crowd. “Where can we go? I don’t really want an audience.”

Sunday Spotlight - AJ Llewelyn and Just a Gigolo

Welcome AJ Llewelyn back to Sunday Spotlight. She's here to share a piece of her new release - Just a Gigolo (Bought and Sold, Book One)

****

What's a guy to do when he's just a gigolo?

Ricky Marcel's been in LA for eleven months, struggling to prove his dad back home in Bourbon, Kansas, wrong. Very wrong. Ricky has the chops to make it as an actor. He proves it every day, charming not only his customers at the restaurant where he works, but also the numerous casting agents he sees for auditions.

When he's called in to read for a super-secret series, Ricky's stunned to find he's on the fast track to a fake reality show about gay gigolos. He's been in the closet so long he has no clue where the key is located. But the fancy Bel Air pad that comes with his job, not to mention the money, influence him to go for it.

Then there's Drake Hardy, a mysterious figure who is not only incredibly sexy, but the show's producer. The attraction between the two men is immediate. Yet Ricky becomes frightened when he learns that Drake is a Dom. Can Ricky not only be a whore on TV, but Drake's personal sex slave as well?

Excerpt:

…This time, Drake didn’t stop him. He didn’t push him back as though he were an over-eager puppy. He took all the desire and the swampy, dark lust Ricky had harbored, kept dormant. He took it and gave it back to him, unzipping Ricky’s top. He took it off, their hungry mouths meeting before the top was even over his head.

Ricky caught a glimpse of fire out of the corner of his eye. He wanted to look, but couldn’t. He was so worried this would stop. That Drake wouldn’t want him.

He had to touch him. Angels were on the balcony of his mental room somewhere because when he slid Drake’s jacket from his shoulders, he could feel the contained heat of the man’s body. He liked the silkiness of the shirt and the hard muscles beneath it.

“I lost my lover, too,” Drake said against his lips.”

Ricky went crazy then and almost ripped Drake’s shirt off.

“Easy, easy. Just undo them one at a time,” he rasped as Ricky almost tore off a button. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Ricky almost wept. Jimmy went away. The had loved each other, and their fucking, even their lovemaking, was always quick. They had to be quick. They took their sensual moments where they could.

This was a whole new world to him. Drake took his time, making sure Ricky was comfortable. He stripped Ricky naked, stroking his cock with an assured hand. He wouldn’t let Ricky finish undressing him, however.

He backed Ricky over to the bedside table with their tray of drinks. He held a lowball glass to Ricky’s mouth. Just that afternoon, Ricky had been taught the correct way to drink a cocktail, but right now, he couldn’t for the life of him remember how to do it…

Excerpt from Suddenly His Alpha

Tulla stiffened as he watched the alpha he’d been eyeing all night started heading his way. He was alone in his corner, so there was no one else the man would be heading toward. He brushed something from his lap, trying not to look as if he was paying any attention, even as his heart beat grew and his breathing was strained.

Tingles of electricity raced over his flesh, leaving goose bumps in their wake. Every nerve in his body was on fire and he felt like jumping up and twirling fast just to cool himself off.

“Hi.”

Tulla lifted his stare to the man, now draped in as much shadow as he. He’d been able to see some from across the ballroom, but not in fine detail. Closer wasn’t much better without the light to aid him. “Hello.”

“I thought you might be thirsty.” The alpha lifted a cup. “I brought you a drink.”

He took a deep breath before lifting his hands, fearful there would be a tremor. Finally, he reached for the cup. The alpha moved it forward and it splashed some as it knocked into his hand.

“Damn, I’m sorry,” the alpha said before taking it back a bit. “I didn’t mean to make a mess.”

“It’s fine.” Fortunately, Tulla had a napkin in one hand, a leftover from his stroll along the refreshments earlier that night. He wiped the wetness away… and then lifted his hand to lick some of the sticker bits.

And he heard the alpha inhale.

Tulla’s stare went to the man’s, but in the dark it was hard to see any emotion… yet he could feel it. He was being watched as he cleaned his hand… and he liked being watched. Dropping his hand, he cleaned the last of it with the napkin.

“Should we try that again?” the alpha asked, lifting the cup once more.

“Don’t move,” Tulla instructed before taking what was left in the cup. His fingers brushed against the alpha’s and he felt heat leeching into him. It raced up his arm and hit him straight in the chest.

Want.

He could barely breathe from it.

“Do you mind if I sit for a moment?”

Tulla shook his head before lifting the cup to his lips. He was parched, his mouth as dry as a desert. Thankfully, his knight in shining armor had brought him something to drink.

“You’ve been hiding here in the shadows all night. Are you afraid to show your face?”

Tulla heard the joking tone to the man’s voice and decided to run with it. “I am. I’m ugly. The ugliest omega here.”

“Ah, I see. I’m nothing to look at myself, either.”

A lie. Even from across the room, Tulla had been able to tell he was handsome. And vaguely familiar, but he couldn’t come up with a name or memory of meeting the guy. “No, you’re not all that, are you?”

The alpha chuckled and pushed his glasses up on his nose. The way he did it was endearing somehow and Tulla thought he could continue looking at the man push his glasses up his regal nose for the rest of his years.

What the hell am I thinking?

“I suppose that means you’ve been watching me tonight, if you noticed how unattractive I am.”

Tulla fought a smile. “How could I ignore you. You’ve been staring over here all night.”

The alpha turned his head toward him. “I kept thinking how lucky you were to have this dark corner all to yourself and how much I wished I was home right now instead of here.”

“Why did you come, then?”

“My parents have been nagging me about finding a mate. So, I decided I’d at least put on a show of it. My cat can live without me for one night, right?”

Tulla grinned. “He might be glad to be rid of you for the evening.”

“Probably is,” the alpha replied, and Tulla could hear the smile on his lips. “But then, there’s no one there to give him rubs and treats, so he might end up missing me after all.”

“You hope so, hmm?”

“I do. He’s the only thing willing to look at this ugly mug of mine for any length of time.”

“I’m glad you found someone willing.”

“Seriously. I’ve already been informed I’m a bad match by a few omegas here tonight.”

Tulla perked up a little, curious if he was joking or serious. “Oh really? Do tell.”

Sunday Spotlight - Lisa Oliver and the Cub and His Alpha (The Alpha and Omega Series, 7)

Welcome Lisa Oliver back to Sunday Spotlight. Today she's haring a bit from her bran new release, The Cub and His Alpha (The Alpha and Omega Series, 7)

Twenty-three year old bear shifter, Daniel Borden had his life crash around his ears at the tender age of fifteen when his parents were killed in a car accident. Struggling to control his shifts during puberty, Daniel left the foster care home he'd been placed in the day he turned eighteen. Thankfully, his parents left him well provided for and he was able to realize his dream—owning a safe place to call his own. Now an international best-selling author, Daniel hides behind his computer, convinced his life is fine just the way it is. Unfortunately, his only vice—a love of wild blueberries—changes his life in ways he'd only dreamed of.

Zeke McIntyre and Ty Hollifield are two Kodiak bear shifters who've spent ten years on the road, looking for their elusive third. Determined to allow the hand of fate to guide them, they end up in a "blink and you miss it" town all because of a white picket fence. Deciding to take the time to stretch their legs and let their long suffering bear forms free, Ty and Zeke spend their days wandering about in their fur in the nearby forest and loving on each other the way mated bears do. Until a brief hint of an alluring scent in the air, guides them to the one they've been looking for.

And you'd think, that would be the end of the story. But it isn't. The older Kodiaks arrival in Daniel's life brings out issues he'd never had to face head on before. Convinced by his mates to attend a writer's conference in Roswell, and unwilling to let his mates down, Daniel has to face the fears that kept him hidden in his lovely house. Will he ever learn to trust the safety that could be found in his lovers' arms, or will he be going home alone?

The Cub and his Alphas is an MMM standalone story that includes minimal violence and some coarse language. Intimate descriptions of the three men together are also included so this book is suitable for adults only. This is a low angst, complete, sweet bear story, although the epilogue suggests a sequel with a secondary character.

Approx 47,000 words (147 pages).

Daniel chuffed as he rubbed his furry back in the long grass, his face turned up to the afternoon sun. Berry bushes, berry bushes as far as the eye could see. Well, they were all Daniel could see, given he was splat dang in the middle of them. Heaven, heaven, heaven, he sung in his mind, reaching out with his long claws to snag the nearest branch. How fucking lucky am I, he wondered as he smashed a paw-load of blueberries in his mouth.

The run was a spontaneous thing. Daniel was, as a rule, a quiet young man who spent most of his days on the computer writing his latest novel. But today the lure of the sunshine, and a nagging feeling his latest book wasn’t going the way it was meant to, saw him taking the four mile drive to his local forest for a bit of a stretch. He had planned on fishing in his furry form, but his nose caught the whiff of ripened fruit and suddenly fish didn’t seem as appetizing to his long bear nose.

La, la, la. Daniel swiped more blueberries with his other paw, well aware his golden fur was being stained blue. Two paw lots, yeah. One lot in my mouth, two lots in my mouth and so much more for me to munch. He could feel the juices smushed under his nose and dribbling down his chin, but with the sound of the babbling creek he’d planned to fish tickling his ear, Daniel didn’t care. He could wash up before he trundled home. The birds were singing, the sun was hot on his fur and the berries were sweet.

Hang on a minute. Daniel tensed and twitched his ears. The birds had been singing, but they were silent now. Seconds later he heard the snap of a breaking twig and the thump of footsteps from a being far heavier than him reverberated up his spine.

Fuck, fuck, fuck, I should have known it was too good to be true. Daniel rolled onto his feet, his fur quivering. Blueberries did grow wild in his part of the world, but what were the chances the perfectly spaced bushes occurred naturally? He was poaching in someone else’s patch and as the thuds got closer, Daniel panicked. He didn’t know of any other bear shifters in the tiny town of Edendale, but that didn’t mean there weren’t any. He barely went out.

The bushes to his right rustled and Daniel didn’t stick around to find out who he’d pissed off. In bear terms, he was still a cub, only twenty three, and whoever was coming was bigger than him – which took some doing but was possible. Never get between a bear and his food. Why his mother’s sage piece of wisdom chose to flow through his mind now, Daniel didn’t stop to find out. Pushing through the bushes to his left, Daniel put on a burst of speed, running blindly back to where he’d left his car.

Hearing a growl behind him, Daniel risked a quick look over his shoulder. Two of them, double fuck. Daniel didn’t fight – ever. He liked to joke he was a lover not a fighter, but he was lacking lover experience as well. And if those two lumbering brutes behind him caught up with him, he’d never get a chance to make his dreams a reality.

Got to get to the car, got to get too… shit. Bursting through the tree line, Daniel could have slapped himself for his stupidity, except his paws were too busy trying to put more distance between himself and the bears chasing him. His brand new bright red Prius sat mocking him on the side of the road. Running towards it, Daniel risked another look back. The massive black bears were just coming through the last of the trees. I don’t have time to fucking shift.

With a lingering whimper as he ran around his car, Daniel took off down the road. His chest was heaving, and the pavement was scorching his paw pads, but Daniel couldn’t afford to stop. He’d come back for his car, his phone, his keys, his wallet and everything else he’d left in his ‘too-small-for-his-bear-form’ vehicle later – a lot later when hopefully the bears chasing him would be gone. I knew I should have bought a truck. It was going to be a long run home.
