Mini Spoilers -- His Reluctant Omega (Wilder and Avery's Story)

If you haven't seen the news yet -- Wilder and Avery's story (finally) released this past Friday. If you don't get my newsletter to get the announcement, here's the link to purchase His Reluctant Omega.

MINI SPOILERS below... you have been warned. Go read the book first if you don't want to hear certain tidbits!!!

Since release, I've had a couple of questions that have been repeated a few times, so I thought I would clear up any misconceptions with a blog post...

1. Is the Tulla from Suddenly His Alpha the same Tulla from His Reluctant Omega? He seems like a different character.

Yes, they are the same person!

The two stories happen about 20 years apart. In SHA, Tulla is just meeting his alpha for the first time and he's about 24 years of age. If you recall, Beckett and Rohan run into one another at the ball pre-Rohan and Jamie, so this happens well in the past.

We know Rohan is in his early to mid 40's by His Surrogate Omega... Tulla is likely about the same age as Rohan, so by His Reluctant Omega, Tulla is in his mid-40s.

Yes, he also seems very different. Twenty years and a tumultuous life have an impact on anyone. He's no longer a bright-eyed twenty-something. He's approaching mid-life and he's lived a very hard one, as you can clearly see from the story. Imagine the person you were twenty years ago... you've likely changed quite a bit. So has Tulla.

2. Avery mentions that Lake can't hide his heat with the same drugs Avery uses because "people are watching Lake", so why isn't the same true of Avery?

Lake is only 17 and still attends an omega school. He's got teachers and administrators expecting him to go into his first heat at any time (the average age is 167). If he didn't go into heat, they would eventually think something was wrong.

Avery had already gone into heat and been sent to the OQ. Once dumped there, the authorities don't keep an intense watch over him. He's behind a wall, so they see him as "taken care of" so to speak. And betas live in the OQ, too. They live and work there. Betas can be anywhere in the province as they don't have issues with heats and ruts. So, no, the guards would think nothing of a beta going in and out of the OQ.

Have any other questions you are dying to know? Just ask. You can always hit me up on social media or my email!

OUT NOW! His Reluctant Omega

His Reluctant Omega

(Omega Quadrant, 2)

by Kelex

Omega Avery Stephens refuses to be the compliant, submissive mate he was raised to be. He’s tired of being told he’s less than and will have to wait for an alpha to come and ‘save’ him from the virtual prison that is the Omega Quadrant.

After his fathers die in a tragic accident, he must stand up and be responsible for his younger omega brothers. Knowing their savings will only last so long, he looks to the future. Avery will need an income and not the pittance an omega can make. He shears his long locks, purchases illegal scent blockers, and misrepresents himself into college under the pseudonym Abraham Norcross, a beta.

Once there, Avery does everything in his power to prove his kind can be more than ‘a womb with legs’, but when he comes across his alpha, he struggles not to be the stereotypical weak and needy omega. Instinct causes him to think too much about dropping to his knees and begging the man to fill him with a child.

Can he find a path somewhere between heaven and hell—and still hold on to his self-respect?
________________________________________________
This is chonky 140,000 word gay non-shifter omegaverse book filled with a lot of love, some pain, a few tears (but not as many as the first book, I hope!), and plenty of spicy times between a loving alpha and his omega.

Decision Time on Avery and Wilder's Story...

So, I've been working on Avery and Wilder's story for a few weeks. I had a (what I thought was) good outline and what was leftover from book one that I didn't use.

Let me back up a bit here. What I mean by "leftover from book one that I didn't use" is...

The first Omega Quadrant book was supposed to be Avery and Wilder's story. Gray's storyline was a secondary one, but after months of playing with it, shelving it for a while, and torturing it a little while, I realized who the REAL stars of that book were. So I pulled out all of the parts that were Gray, Jamie, and/or Rohan's, pieced it back together, and then figured out a way to move forward.

That left me with about fifteen scenes of Avery's that I couldn't use. So, when I returned to work on his story, I pulled those fifteen scenes out and took a look at them to see what I could still use and what might need to exit, stage left.

No authors want's to pitch words they've written. Ever. But sometimes it needs to happen. So I wrote an outline that used as much of what I had as possible and went to work. I pieced those scenes together and added some new scenes...

But it just didn't feel right.

So I took it apart again, did a little verbal surgery, and tried again. But it still didn't feel right.

I took a couple of days off, let my brain veg, and then came back to it.

Attempt #3 looked promising. I got about 40% of the book complete, but upon review a couple of days ago—it just didn't feel worthy of Avery and Wilder.

I don't feel the heat. I don't feel the connection between them. It just isn't right.

Let me tell you that I am well aware that His Surrogate Omega is the best thing I've ever written. I'm proud as hell of that story. It was my baby and I languished over it for nearly a year. I loved those characters and the journey they went on... so there's no way in hell I'm going to put out a sub-standard book to follow it up.

I know there are a lot of folks who want to read Avery and Wilder's story. Trust me, I'm one of them. I want the words I write to excite me and make me cry like the ones I wrote for Jamie, Rohan, and Gray.

Pushing it, forcing it... the end product won't be pretty. I've done that before, written a book because readers were vocal about wanting it and then we were all disappointed with the results. My muse needs to be ready to write that book, so I'm giving my muse a little more time to come up with the right path, even if it means utterly abandoning the pieces I've already written and coming up with something completely new. (Side note: I have this amazing scene I wrote with Avery that was supposed to be the first scene in book one. It got pushed to the prologue of book two... and I cannot lose this scene, but if it has to go, it has to go.)

So, I'm shelving their story a little while longer and letting my head and my heart figure that all out... and I'm moving on to write Tanner's story in the sister series, Alphas of the Western Provinces. Tanner's been SCREAMING since the end of One Wild Heat, so he's pleased. Maybe once I write One Wild Omega, I can get back to Wilder and Avery.

Omegaverse FAQ -- When/Where do these stories take place?

*Omega Rights? Does One Wild Heat happen later than His Surrogate Omega?

*This seems a lot like our world today. Is it?

*McCreary? Motherf*cking McCreary??? What is a McCreary doing there? Is this a mistake? Are you messing with us? You said this is a non-shifter omegaverse? WHERE ARE MY BEARS?

***************************

Okay, I get it. You have questions. I will answer as many of them as possible without giving away spoilers for future books as possible.

Let's start with that first question...

My Omegaverse is a really big place. Basically, there are large provinces which are walled off. Inside these provinces, you might have a city, some suburban sprawl, and possibly some areas that are a bit less urban. Outside the province is a thick, heavy wall, manned by betas to keep the residents of NO MAN'S LAND out.

Each province has their own provincial government that sets the rules of law. Each has an alpha council and judiciary system.

Some provinces are conservative and give omegas few rights. Others are more progressive and offer omegas varying levels of freedoms.

So, long story short—One Wild Heat and His Surrogate Omega take place in the same time period. They simply take place in different provinces with different laws governing reproductive rights and omegas.

Okay, wait a minute... what the hell is NO MAN'S LAND?

No Man Land is the generic term for the areas outside the walls. These places are where the wild things live... those unwilling to be good alphas/betas/omegas and live under the same rules of society.  They tend to be a little wild, live under their own moral code (or lack thereof) and have been known to scale walls to steal omegas in the past. This happens less often in the current period, but occurred a lot back in the days of harems and warlords, in the eras following the Great Catastrophe.

What is the GREAT CATASTROPHE?

I'm afraid I can't fully answer that yet.

Series wise, it's been eons since it occurred—long enough that the verbal histories that came after blur the line between reality and myth. They all know something terrible happened to their world, but they're not sure exactly what.

But as their world grows more progressive, the search for answers grows more intriguing.

Which leads back to the second question at the top.

No, this is not our world. It's very much like our world.

Finally, the last question... Quinn McCreary and family... is there a connection to my Bear Mountain series.

Maybe.

Maybe not.

All I can say is this... my two series are NON-SHIFTER OMEGAVERSE.

I guess you'll have to keep reading if you want the full answer...

New Release: UNEXPECTED HEAT: An MPREG Omegaverse Short

I heard so many say they wished they'd gotten to see more of Gray and Rohan from His Surrogate Omega... and I took those comments to heart. I decided to revisit these guys and tell a little more of their journey.

***

Gray and Rohan Parker have been through one hell of a year. A mating that started out with both life and death, they’ve held on tight to one another for months, just trying to survive. Needing some alone time, Rohan plans a lavish vacation to paradise for Gray’s next heat—the honeymoon they weren’t able to take. Now that their twins are fifteen-months, they hope to finally connect again and share an intimacy they haven’t been able to since the toddlers were made.

But a mix-up with the bags threatens their little piece of paradise and brings up old fears and buried emotions. They face up to the loss, the love, and their future together—and have to decide if they let nature take its course.

Omegaverse FAQ -- What are these heat drugs the omegas take?

I know you have questions about Heat Repress and what it does exactly.

Or the drugs Avery is taking to let him pass as a beta... I mean, what the hell are they and where the hell did he find them?

So, here's all you need to know about the heat drugs our omegas might or might not be on in my Omegaverse books.

**Note -- if you're interested in reading more about heats in my Omegaverse, check out THIS post.

1. Heat Repress

This is the one most of you are familiar with from His Surrogate Omega. It's the drug that's threatening to stop working for Gray and the reason he feels he has no choice but to become a surrogate -- to give his body a break.

Heat Repress doesn't completely curb an omega's heat. On it, they are still riddled with lust and the desire to be mated, but the urge is contained and prevents an unmated omega from going over the edge, climbing the city walls, and begging ANY alpha to breed him.

Alphas in an omega-in-heat's presence will go into partial rut.

It must be taken twice daily -- morning and evening -- starting on the day before a heat begins (linked to the lunar cycle) through to the end of the heat -- a total of four days.

It does NOT prevent pregnancy.

It does nothing to hide an omega's scent from alphas.

For mated couples, it allows clarity of mind. So things like condoms don't get forgotten in the heat of the moment.

Truly meant to help younger, unmated omegas until they find their mates—as well as mated ones between pregnancies—it isn't made to be on long-term. Hence Gray's issue with it beginning to fail him.

2. Heatex

Illegal in the Eastern Provinces (where His Surrogate Omega takes place) this is basically a much, much stronger version of Heat Repress. Omegas in the Western Provinces have already battled for their rights and use Heatex and Scentex to control their own reproductive rights.

Heatex curbs 80-90% of an omega's heat. There's still a bit of lust, but it can be easily contained and does not bring their world to a complete halt.

Alphas in the presence of an omega on Heatex do not go into rut (unless it's beginning to fail -- then they'll go into varying stages of rut depending on how bad the failure is...)

The pills must be taken twice daily -- morning and evening -- starting on the day before a heat begins (linked to the lunar cycle) through to the end of the heat -- a total of four days -- just like Heat Repress.

It does NOT prevent pregnancy.

It does nothing to hide an omega's scent from alphas.

One con to Heatex, like Heat Repress, it can fail if an omega uses it non-stop without an occasional break. Once every year or two, an omega needs to cycle off. Because it's stronger than Heat Repress, that failure happens faster. If an omega continuously takes Heatex non-stop, it will fail them in 3-5 years.

Sometimes it's difficult for an unmated omega to cycle off. They must be in a safe place, protected, to ensure they can cycle off without the chances of being bred. This sometimes leads some omegas to overuse and less cycling off -- especially those with less financial means.

3. Scentex

Also illegal in the Eastern Provinces, the omegas of the Western Provinces use this drug to mask their scent. It allows them the freedom to move amongst alphas without worrying their alpha could find them and publicly claim them. On Scentex, their alpha could pass by them without an idea their omega was within arm's reach.

It also helps curb their desire for their alpha, as it impacts their own scent glands, too. In other words, an omega knows their alpha at first scent -- but they can control their reaction better thanks to the Scentex.

Scentex is a liquid/injectable. It must be administered once every three months via syringe into a fatty part of the body. Once a dosage is missed, it can take up to three weeks before an omega's scent becomes detectable again.

It does NOT prevent pregnancy.

It does nothing to alter an omega's heat.

****UPDATE TO ADD - Scentex is made to be used in conjunction with Heatex. If an omega is in heat, Scentex might not be strong enough to fully cover the scent of an omega's slick. An alpha nearby could potentially scent him, particularly in close quarters in an enclosed space. ****

4. Birth Control

There are birth control pills in this world, but they're illegal in many provinces. There's also side effects that can cause an omega to become infertile, which has helped cause a bit of a stigma surrounding any omega or couple who uses them in the provinces that do allow them.

Condoms are the prophylactic of choice in most provinces and are very effective if used properly.

A device similar to a diaphragm is also used in some cases, particularly nursing omegas unable to return to their heat blocking drugs. While nursing, most omegas' heats are naturally milder anyway thanks to the higher levels of pregnancy hormones still in their blood, so they tend not to suffer as much on their own.

Deleted Scene - When Wilder Meets Avery

Click to purchase on Amazon/KU
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD... if you haven’t read His Surrogate Omega, I recommend you don’t read this yet...

***

So, as I’ve said before, Omegaverse Book One was originally Wilder and Avery’s story. Gray, Rohan, and Jamie were secondary characters, but the more I wrote about their story, the more I realized they were the true stars of that show.

At that point, I had nearly 50,000 words written -- nearly half the length of book one. Frustrated, I sat the book aside for a couple of months. Then I came back to it with fresh eyes, trying to decide what stayed and what went.

I’d started with Avery just after his parents’ funeral, when he was coming to the realization that he needed to work to keep the family afloat... and when the idea of college had come to mind. I traveled through his purchase of the illegal scent blockers, him testing the system, applying for college, and getting his first part time job (at Jaymes & Associates, in the mail room) in the Alpha Quadrant.

And his first time coming face to face with Wilder.

Now, of course, we know that Avery met Wilder at the funeral and then later when Gray and Rohan were joined, so that scene I’d written with their first face-to-face won’t make it into book two. I hate pitching anything. I try to save anything I delete so I can attempt to use it somewhere else, but this one just can’t work elsewhere.

So here it is. UNEDITED and only somewhat fleshed out...

*Note that this scene occurs during the beginning of Avery’s freshman year, and yes, Vaughn was originally Vaughan, which I later changed in book one.

Thirty floors above…

“Hey, you want to grab a coffee break with me, Mr. CFO?”

Wilder Jaymes lifted his stare from his computer to see his younger brother, Vaughan, leaning on his office door. He minimized the report he had open and faced his brother. “You just got in an hour ago and you’re already taking a break?”

“I wanted to spend some time with you before you end up the CEO and really don’t have time for me anymore.”

Wilder leaned back in his chair. “Cut the crap. Father isn’t retiring anytime soon.”

“No, but I heard him talking with papa last night. Papa would like father to slow down a bit more. All this hard work of yours has allowed father to spend more time at home—and now that papa’s had a taste, he’s hooked. He wants to travel… see the sites of the world. He brought up the possibility of father moving into the role of president of the company and getting someone to fill the spot as CEO.”

“Seriously?” Wilder asked, lifting a brow. He wasn’t ready for that. Not yet, but in a few years? He’d need to convince his father to drag his feet for a while. That job was his and his alone. A Jaymes had been at the head of the company for five decades and he didn’t plan on that changing.

Yet he didn’t want it handed to him.

He wanted to earn it.

Vaughan grinned. “The perks of living at home… and being the second alpha. I’m invisible. They say things as if I’m not right there in the room.”

“You’re not invisible.” He’d already recommended Vaughan take over his old position as Director of Finance. His brother was brilliant in any role… he might not be a nose to grindstone type, but he was savvy enough to fit into any spot he was put and smart enough to run the show in a matter of days by relying on the right people.

The problem was, Vaughan liked being the center of attention and he could be needy as hell.

“So says the older, wiser, CFO,” Vaughan said before sitting on the edge of Wilder’s desk. “Nepotism at its finest.”

Wilder cringed, his own misgivings being repeated back to him. “I earned my promotion, thank you.”

“You did. I’ll give you that. You work too damned hard, big brother. But you have to admit that you started off with more than a foot in the door thanks to your last name.”

“And you didn’t?” Wilder asked.

“Of course I did. But I own it.”

Wilder sighed. “Maybe that coffee break can wait.” He sat up straighter and pulled the report back up on the screen. “I have a lot of work to do.”

“Oh, stop,” Vaughan said. “Can’t I be a little bit jealous for two seconds?”

Wilder sighed and sat back in his chair again. “Is your two seconds up?”

“You’re a total tool,” Vaughan spat. “You need to get the stick out of your ass and relax.”

“I guess it’s not,” Wilder said, lifting a brow. He looked at his watch. “We’re up to ten seconds now.”

“No, I’m done. I’m done. All good. Got it all out of my system. For now.” Vaughan smiled widely.

Wilder chuckled, shaking his head. “I think papa dropped you on your head when you were a baby.”

“He likely did,” Vaughan said with a grin. “It would explain a lot about me.” He stood up straighter. “Coffee? I’m buying.”

“It’s a company coffee shop, asshole,” Wilder said, logging out of his computer.

His father had opened the coffee shop on the first floor as an incentive for employees to get to work on time. Too many late mornings were thanks to long lines at Star Horton, so they got one of their own in the lobby. Wilder rarely stopped in, unless it was to grab a plain black coffee. His brother, on the other hand, was an addict of the frilly frappucinos. They meandered to the elevator and Vaughan hit the call button.

“How’s the accounting department?” Wilder asked as they waited.

“Tolliver… there’s something about that man I just don’t like.”

Tolliver Hardwick was the accounting department supervisor and had been for a good amount of years. He seemed to rub a lot of people the wrong way—including Wilder. “He’s an odd one.”

“I don’t trust him,” Vaughan said. “I’ve been spending the last few days looking through the books… but everything looks in order. I can’t find any misstep.”

“I did the same thing when I moved to finance. Found nothing.”

“I’m going to keep a close eye on him… I just get this vibe, you know?”

“If you find anything, bring it to my attention.”

Vaughan nodded. “I hated accounting in university. I have no idea why father thought it a good idea to put me in charge of it.” The elevator doors opened and Vaughan slipped inside and turned to face forward. “I figured I’d neveruse it.”

They’d both graduated from Lyenna Alpha University with degrees in Business Administration and Management, at the behest of their parents. Both of them had been forced to take accounting classes, which Wilder hadn’t minded. He liked having a base knowledge of what the bookkeepers and accountants were doing with his family’s money.

Wilder moved in after him. “He wants us familiar with every aspect,” he said, lowering his voice as the elevator wasn’t empty. “We need to know how it works from the inside out.”

Vaughan nodded. “I suppose.”

They both grew quiet as the car traveled to the first floor. As soon as the doors opened, they walked out. Ten seconds later, Wilder crashed into a beta coming up from the stairwell and nearly sent the man sprawling.

“Sorr—”

The beta froze, his eyes widening as he looked up at Wilder. Wilder stared at the man… there was something… odd about him. He drew in a breath, the aroma… off. He wasn’t sure what it was about the man, but he was drawn.

My gods he’s pretty.

He had wide hazel eyes that were nearly golden. Dark hair shone in the overhead lights. His lips were perfectly kissable… and for some reason Wilder was tempted. Wildly tempted.

He’s a beta. A beta. Back off.

He’s not for you.

“Sorry,” the beta said, looking away. “I wasn’t paying attention.”

“No problem,” Wilder said as he watched the young beta race away. He turned to Vaughan who stared at him oddly. “What?”

What was that?” Vaughan asked, smiling wickedly.

Wilder glanced at the employees streaming out of the elevator or on/off others before returning to stare at his brother. “He bumped into me. That’s all.”

“No. You’ve got a look.”

“A look?” Wilder said rolling his eyes. He walked on, heading for the coffee shop.

“You most definitely had a look on your face.” Vaughan said before leaning in closer and whispering. “You just scented a beta.”

Wilder shrugged. “I did not.” He had, but only because he’d sensed a weird… connection. Have I met that beta before?

“You can fuck them on the downlow all you want, but don’t let Father catch you pulling that shit right here in the building.”

“You’re one to talk,” Wilder said, eyeing his brother. “How many of the servants have you bedded?”

“Learn from my mistakes,” Vaughan said with a grin. “Father’s caught me in too many compromising positions over the years as it is.” He paused to open the door for his brother. “After you, Mr. CFO.”

“Quit it with that,” Wilder growled before walking in. he cast one last look over his shoulder, searching the foyer for the young, handsome beta before pushing the man from his mind.

I just read HIS SURROGATE OMEGA now what the hell do I read next?

Also know as... Kelex has a ton of books and I have no idea where to start.

~~~~
Let me explain something first...
His Surrogate Omega is quite different than most of my other books. (So far)
Maybe I should've considered creating a new pen name for HSO...  but I decided that book isn't so far away from things I've already written.
I mean, I have a couple of MPREG series already, just not any Omegaverse.
And meh, why not just say, look -- I want to move in a new direction and spread my wings a little? (There might also be a touch of 'the lazy' in there, too. I mean, starting from scratch with a new pen name takes time, effort, and I'd much rather devote all that to writing books, ya know?)
I started out writing short MM erotica in December 2012. Most of my books published in 2013-2015 were focused on sex. BDSM, Dub Con, Submission, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Shifters, Contemporary, Historical -- you name it, I likely wrote it. In other words, if you're looking for romance-driven books, my early stuff is likely not going to be your thing.
If erotica is your thing, then be my guest.
Starting in mid 2015, I started writing my Bear Mountain series, which A LOT of people love (and I love that people love it, it makes me deliriously happy).
But, I'm going to warn you... the first book? I was still in my sex-driven, quick story mode... it's not quite the story I wished it was now that I have hindsight, but what in this world ever is?
Yet, there was something about the world I hinted at in that first book that made me come back to it.
And readers did, too. It blew up in this fantastic kind of way and I just kept diving back in. As the series evolved, the world grew, as did the characters.
My writing went from fun, sexcapades to falling in love and having families and a community of shifters who fought together and occasionally one another, but ultimately, they all pretty much wanted to have a safe space away from the human world, protected from those who wouldn't understand creatures like them.
Sure, there's still some hot sex scenes in there, too. But the focus shifted to storytelling.
The series is currently (as I write this) at 21 books -- with 22 on the way (There is a book 1.5 that fleshes out the original triad's story a bit more, so technically there's 22 books and 23 on the way.)
The Bear Mountain series and its spin-offs are almost entirely ménage. And they contain MPREG... not all characters are pregnant in each book, sometimes it might be a secondary character, but it happens in this world.
Project Zed is a spin-off of Bear Mountain and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you read at least through book 18 of Bear Mountain before reading Zed. I did the best I could to give updates at the beginning of each Zed book, in case a reader doesn't want to deal with 18 books in another series first, but to appreciate them fully, you need to know the world and the people involved. Yes, I know asking someone to invest in 18 other books is a lot, but the series really does grow and expand as you read, so...
Midnight, Mississippi is also a Bear Mountain spin-off, but it takes place in a different, magical city populated by shifters and vampires and witches and everything else that goes bump in the night. While the city is different, it is in the same world as the Bear Mountain series and some bears travel there on occasion. BUT... you do not need to have read the original series to read and enjoy the Midnight books.
My Sacrificed series is also heavily MPREG, though the first one is NOT.  None of them need to be read in ANY ORDER... as they're similar worlds with similar themes, but each story is different. Occasionally you might see a thread between them, but it's loose, at best. They're shorter reads, so if you only have a few hours, they're a fast, quick option.
Now here's the good news...
His Surrogate Omega is the first in a new series. I already have plans for books two and three, and potentially a fourth book in the series. It'll depend on the direction the next two take me.
AND... here's the bottom line.
I'm not going to lie, I started out writing what I thought the market wanted early in my career. But after a while, writing a bunch of loosely tied together sex got boring. I needed more and my books grew over the years, as I hopefully did as an author. Now I need more to keep me interested in writing a story.
His Surrogate Omega scared the hell out of me. I wasn't sure I was up to the task... I put it down several times and almost gave up at one point. I remember thinking -- this is just too damned hard. Eventually, I pushed through and I proved that I had it in me.
And if I can do it once, I can do it again. (Right? Dear gods I hope so... Avery is already screaming in my head.)
So, expect more books like this to come in the future. If you don't find something in my backlist that you love, just wait. I'll have something new for you soon and hopefully you'll enjoy :)
And for the fans of Bear Mountain and Midnight who've been with me all along... YES I will continue to write those stories, too. I still have every intention of getting to the Return to Bear Mountain series hopefully in 2019, too.
Lastly, for those of you who really dig my erotic stories, I DID make another pen name recently as many of you already know -- Xander Kane. Old habits die hard, so when the muse screams to write something quick and hot, that's the name I'll use from here on out.
Early New Release! HIS SURROGATE OMEGA: An MPREG Omegaverse Book
Omega Gray Tomlinson is positive he’ll remain unmated for the rest of his life. By his mid-thirties, he remains unclaimed and without prospects, and lives confined to the Omega Quadrant, where he’s sure he’ll end up dying alone.
When his older brother, Silver, and Silver’s alpha die in a tragic accident, Gray’s nephews come to live in his little sequestered world. Without an alpha, he knows he has little means to help support the boys. The only choice he can stomach is to offer his services as a surrogate.
The minute Gray meets Jamie, the infertile omega who so desperately wants a child, he senses a bond like none he’s ever felt before. It’s brotherly love at first sight, and Gray decides Jamie is the one, agreeing to carry his and his alpha, Rohan’s, child.
But when circumstances change, Gray is faced with new challenges, a new love interest, and a battle for the very life that grew inside him. And maybe there’s an alpha out there for him after all…
His gaze fell on Jamie’s bright smile. “You’re here!”
Jamie rushed over and spun Gray to face the man he was there to meet.
As soon as he set sight on Rohan, the air rushed from his lungs. The man was stunning… perfectly made in every way. Big and muscled as any alpha, he wore an expensive looking tailored suit that showed wide shoulders and a narrow waist. The alpha’s scent hit Gray… and he paused to inhale a little of it. Lust washed over him, his body rocked by need. He’d just gone through his heat the week before, so he didn’t understand the sensations running through him.
Some of Gray’s cream slickened his ass. Mortification filled him. There was also no missing the sudden clench to Rohan’s jaw.
The alpha had to scent him…
Dark eyes met his before that stare swept completely over him. Gray saw lust there in that gaze and had to remind himself it was all an instinctual reaction. An alpha scenting an available omega—that’s all it was.
And in that moment, he wished he’d injected some of Avery’s scent blocker. He hadn’t even thought about it… but then, why would he? He had little experience with alphas. His father, and a few friends who’d come over every so often when he was young—but once he’d gone into heat that first time, he’d been sequestered away. Even though Rohan had an omega all his own, it wouldn’t completely subdue the animal instinct within Rohan. Jamie and Tensen couldn’t scent him… only the alpha in the room would know.
Gray couldn’t look away from the alpha’s dark, fierce stare. His body shook with need…
And the desire to bow down then and there to be taken. He snagged his gaze away, shame filling him.
Jamie babbled on, seeming oblivious to what was happening. “I couldn’t wait for you two to meet… it feels like such a long time coming. So, without further ado—Rohan, this is Gray. Gray, my alpha, Rohan.”
He lifted his stare to Rohan’s once more. The alpha’s gaze was locked on him. Gray felt his skin tingling… butterflies spinning in his gut…
All for a man he couldn’t have…
A man he might carry a child for.
Gray clenched his own jaw thinking of his womb filled with Rohan’s child.
His womb clenched, too.
