Sunday Spotlight -- Maggie Walsh and Blind Rage

Welcome Maggie Walsh back to Sunday Spotlight! She's sharing a bit from her new release, Blind Rage (Clearnight Haven 3)

* * *

B.B.’s best friend Atty goes missing and he doesn’t know what to do, but then luck is on his side when the new coven leader Fabian Valentine and his brother, Silas show up asking questions about Atty’s disappearance. But when B.B. talks to the vamps, he brings trouble down on his head in the form of two thugs showing up at his door and beating the crap out of him. When the gorgeous B.B. arrives for their private meeting, away from prying eyes, and shows up badly beaten, Silas is suddenly filled with a sense of protectiveness he has never known. Then getting one whiff of B.B.’s blood explains everything he needs to know about the sharp tongued hottie. B.B. is his mate.

The Valentine brothers take B.B. back to their home where Silas helps him heal and explains that B.B. is his mate. At first B.B. is excited, knowing what that means, even though he is just a human, but suddenly his is consumed with fear of what could be. Not that he doesn’t want Silas, because he does, B.B. is just afraid that he will hurt the gorgeous vamp because his parents were not the most faithful people, so B.B. is afraid of Silas tying himself to B.B. for eternity.

When Atty is rescued, but suddenly his new friend and one of Silas’s brothers, Jasper, is captured, and Silas beats himself up over Jasper’s kidnapping, B.B. can’t just sit back and do nothing. He wants to help find his new friend and in turn also help his mate from the guilt he suffers.

So B.B. sets out alone to find some answers, but ends up in the same predicament as Jasper. The two are now the captives of the same sick bastards that held Atty, a group of human traffickers, who want to sell them to the highest bidder.

When Silas and his brothers find out what has happened to B.B. and who is holding him and possibly their youngest brother Jasper, they know they are working against the clock to get them back before they are sold and never heard from again.

Can Silas find B.B. and Jasper in time? And if he does, will they be the same or will the horrors they had to face changed them forever?

EXCERPT:

“Where the hell is he?” Silas hissed.

“I’m starting to get the feeling we’ve been had,” Fabian said with a sigh, then turned. “He’s a half hour late and we’re wasting time. I’ll call Atax and River and have them go sit on little B.B.’s house, while also keeping an eye on Patrice Lovering,” Fabian said, as he pulled his cell from his jacket pocket. “Then, we can get out of here and hit the next name on the list.”

“What about the rest of the town? Is it wise to pull two guys off patrol?”

“I doubt anything will happen in the next few weeks. These disappearances are once a week, but throughout the region, like whoever this is, is trying to fool the authorities. The last hit here, before Atticus, was four months ago. The one before that five months. So, I think we have some time. But you’re right, we should still keep the town under observation. I’ll have Saber join up with JuJu.”

Motion in the far shadows caught his attention. “Wait. I just saw something move out there,” Silas exclaimed as he turned fully toward the hole. “I think it’s B.B., but he looks like he’s moving funny.”

Fabian came to stand beside him and peered out the opening too. A flash of violet in the shadows to the left caught his eye. The figure seemed to be stumbling, or limping. The hairs on the back of his neck rose as a feeling of dread filled him. Something wasn’t right. He knew it was B.B., he could smell the human, but he also caught a whiff of blood, and lots of it. There was something else too, he just didn’t understand what it was.

As much as he wanted to stay in hiding, so no one would see them meeting with the human, he knew they had to act fast, or something life changing would happen. There was something about the scent of that blood that had his true vampire snarling. His gums began to itch and he ran his tongue across his teeth, noticing his fangs were beginning to descend. Pain at the tips of his fingers warned him that his claws were also about to rip from his fingers. Silas had no idea what was happening to him, only that he needed to get out there as fast as he could. Something told him that if he didn’t get to B.B. now, he would regret it for the rest of his life.

“Shit!” Silas hissed, then ripped the front door from its hinges and bolted through the opening, crossing the distance between them and B.B. in a mere second. He had no idea if Fabian followed and at the moment he didn’t care, all he knew was he needed to get to the human.

Once across the lot and within a few feet of B.B., Silas saw that the man was in bad shape. It looked as if someone had beat him to within an inch of his life. Silas got to B.B. just as the human was dropping, and wrapped his arms around him, catching him, and slowly lowered him to the ground. Silas knelt on the hard surface with B.B. cradled against him, and he was suddenly consumed with a sense of peace he had never experienced before, but there was also a pain that he had never felt before, agony. Silas drew in a deep breath through his nose to try to calm the confusing feelings inside him, but he was assaulted by the most amazing scent of nutmeg and ginger. Gods, he could get lost in that scent.

Realization dawned on him. Silas was shocked beyond speech as he just held onto the human and stared down at the man in his arms. Silas cupped B.B.’s cheek tenderly as a sense of wholeness washed over him, but then panic took over as he looked at B.B.’s injuries. Someone had hurt the human bad and Silas was now filled with terror thinking of B.B. dying.

“Why didn’t I know it before? He was standing right in front of me and I had no clue. Why? Don’t die, little one. Please stay with me,” Silas pleaded, shocked to hear the heartache and desperation in his own voice.

B.B.’s face was covered in blood and his clothes were torn. Silas could see claw marks marring B.B.’s flawless skin throughout his body. His right arm was a dark purple and Silas was sure it was broken, but the worst of it was the bone that he could actually see poking out a small hole in B.B.’s left thigh, his leg oozing blood.

“Silas, we need to get him out of here. He needs medical attention, now. Silas? Silas!” Fabian yelled as he placed a hand on his shoulder, and gave him a small shake.

Silas’s head snapped up, surprised by Fabian’s closeness. He had been so focused on B.B. that he hadn’t even remembered Fabian was there. When their gazes met, Silas could see the deep concern and confusion in Fabian’s eyes. “Silas, we have to get him to a doctor. Come on brother, I’ll help you,” Fabian offered, and stooped low, reaching out to help with B.B., but Silas didn’t want anyone else touching what was his.

“No! Don’t touch him! He’s mine! My mate!” Silas hissed vehemently, as he pulled B.B. closer against his chest.

EXCERPT:

Russell moved closer then slid an arm under Gill’s shoulders. “Here, let me help you.”

With Russell’s help, Gill was sat up and leaned against the headboard. The pain in his back was still there but not so bad. Once he was comfortable, Russell released him and stepped away. Gill could swear he heard a quick intake of breath as Russell touched him and then felt the reluctance when Russell released him, but he knew he must be mistaken. There was no way, even though the man seemed to be flirting with him, that anyone who looked like Russell Savage could be interested in a dweeb like him.

“There, is that better?”

“Yes, thank you,” Gill replied shyly.

Russell gave him a beautiful smile full of sparkling white teeth. “Hey now, none of that. You don’t need to be shy with me.”

Gill cleared his throat. “Okay then if I am on some island, then my first question is how long have I been asleep? Because as far as I know the last place I was, was in Colorado and there are no islands there, which means we traveled some distance and I don’t remember a damn thing. So how long have I been out and what caused me to be out?”

The smile fell from Russell’s lips and his eyes filled with anger, but somehow Gill knew it wasn’t at him, but Russell’s reaction was beginning to worry him. “I will answer all of your questions and I promise to always be honest with you, but first let me ask you this. What do you remember?”

Russel watched Gill’s face closely trying to concentrate on the conversation and not the scent of fresh chocolate mint candy ready to be tasted. Just touching Gill and being so close, when he helped the man sit up had about made him forget his mate’s injuries and give Gill what his eyes and lust filled scent had been asking for.

“Honestly it is all broken up. I think I have flashes, but honestly Russ, I don’t think my mind wants to remember,” Gill softly replied.

Savage pulled up his high wing back chair close to his fated one, sat, then gently placing his hand on top of Gill’s. “It’s okay, Gill. Sometimes our minds know when our body needs healing and when you’re ready it will bring the memories back to you. I give you my word, as your mate, that I will do everything in my power to help you through that when the time comes.”

“Maybe it would be best if you just told me,” Gill suggested.

Shaking his head, Savage replied, “I don’t think that’s wise. However, I can tell you this, you were badly injured. You had three broken ribs, internal bleeding, a severe concussion, and well…a broken back. I didn’t think you would live until I brought you home. Grey healed you as best he could, he mended your ribs, fixed your spleen and was able to bring the swelling in your brain down. He has intermittently tried to heal your spine and you won’t have to wear a back brace because of his treatments, but the rest is up to you.”

Gill continued to stare at Savage, rapidly blinking. “Are you saying I won’t be able to walk?”

Sunday Spotlight - Maggie Walsh and Collision Course

Welcome Maggie Walsh back to Sunday Spotlight. Today's she sharing the first book from her new series — Collision Course, Omega Island, Book One

When alpha Jake and his two betas, Theo and Landis escaped their birth pack, they never expected to get caught in a category 4 storm thousands of miles from home. The fishing vessel they were on capsized and the three find themselves washed ashore of a deserted island.

With Jake's leg being injured and Landis not regaining consciousness, Jake and Theo must find a way to keep them all alive until they can either find help or be rescued. The trio soon find out the that island isn't as deserted as they thought it was, and that their rescuers come with guns, mistrust, and very special powers.

Once thrown in a cell, they are informed that it is for the resident’s protection, not theirs. When one of their rescuers turns out to be their mate, Jake, Theo, and Landis become excited, because not only have they found their mate, but that means that these three lifelong friends and lovers can finally claim each other and become a mated quad.

But things are never that easy. It turns out the island is a hidden sanctuary for omega wolves who don't trust anyone from the outside world, especially alphas and betas. Each of these omegas had been abused by dominating alphas, which caused them to run from their lives and hide away.

Now Jake, Theo, and Landis must do whatever is necessary to gain the trust of their mate, as well as all these special men, so that they may be allowed to stay on the island, not only for their own safety, but so they can claim their mate, and each other.

EXCERPT:

“At least we were able to get all that cleaned up,” Blaine stated.

“Yeah, and I think Flynn will be stoked when he sees that we found four full gas cans, the fishing gear, and some rope. It’s not much, but it’s something, right?” Shilo added.

“Hey, guys. I think it’s time we head home. Sun will be down soon,” Luka yelled from up the beach.

“Okay, everyone, grab as much as you can,” Blaine instructed, and each of the men filled their arms with what they found.

They made their way back up to where Luka was standing and headed through the brush. After walking for ten minutes, Aryn stopped. He lifted his head and breathed in deep.

“What are you doing?” Casey asked as he stopped next to Aryn.

“I smell a fire,” Aryn answered.

“So?”

“It’s coming from over there,” Aryn replied.

“Again, so?” Casey huffed.

“Well seeing as home is in that direction and it’s almost sundown, who started a fire over there, and why?” Aryn said sarcastically.

They cautiously made their way through the tropical forest being as quiet as they could. As they approached the area where the smoke was coming from, a small glow of orange appeared. Aryn could hear the crackling of wood burning, and smell the smoke, along with the unmistakable scent of breadfruit cooking. Settling down behind the large leaves of the ape plant, Aryn carefully moved the foliage aside to take a peak. His eyes widened from the sight before him, and his heart began to pound in his chest.

“What is it, Aryn?” Casey asked.

“There are three men over there. Three very large men. One of them is lying down and looks like he is sleeping, then another one is sitting next to him trying to get a breadfruit peeled with a rock, and the last one has some breadfruit on a stick and is cooking it.”

“Do they look dangerous?” Shilo asked nervously.

“I have no idea if they are dangerous, but they are big,” Aryn answered.

“How did they get here?” Blaine asked angrily, with a small growl.

“How the hell should I know?” Aryn defended.

“It was a rhetorical question,” Blaine stated and rolled his eyes.

“A rhitora what?” Casey asked.

“It means, although I did ask a question, it doesn’t require an answer,” Blaine explained.

“That makes no sense. When you ask someone a question you obviously want an answer, because you asked a question,” Casey said annoyed.

Shilo placed a hand on Casey’s shoulder as he chuckled lightly. “I got this, Blaine. Have you ever had a thought that was a question, but you never actually said it out loud?”

“Yeah, of course.”

“Well it’s that. Blaine was thinking it because he was confused and said it out loud instead of keeping it in his head,” Shilo explained.

“Oh. Okay then,” Casey replied with a shrug.

Blaine stared at him for a moment, then shook his head and turned back to look at the strangers. Two of the large men were now standing only about six feet from them, staring at them. One of the large men looked confused and surprised to see them there and the other looked amused.

“Hello, gentlemen. Can you tell us where we are?” the large guy with the shoulder length, shaggy blonde hair asked.

“Who are you, and how did you get here?” Blaine asked, guarded.

“We got washed up here with the storm,” the man answered.

“How can we believe them, Blaine?” Casey asked in a whisper.

“He’s right. You can’t expect us to believe that you just happened to wash up here, on this island, because of the storm,” Blaine replied in disbelief.

“How did you get here? Are there others with you?” Casey asked in a panic.

“It’s just the three of us, little one. I’m Jake, this is Theo, and our friend over there is Landis. We were out on a fishing boat with a charter group, when suddenly the water started getting rough. Before we knew it, all the boat’s instruments had crapped out and we lost the engines. We were just floating around aimlessly waiting for another fishing vessel to find us. But then the storm came and, well...here we are.”

“Where are the others from the charter group?” Blaine asked.

“We have no idea. Look, kid, we woke up here on the beach. We haven’t found anyone else but the three of us. Jake had a nasty wound and could still use some medical attention, and our friend Landis, has been unconscious since we found him. So can we please stop the question and answer crap and you point us to a hospital,” Theo said gruffly.

“Sure,” Luka said sweetly and pointed in the direction over the stranger's shoulders. “You go back that way through the tropical forest. Once you step out, turn left and go about a mile up the shore. When you get to the end, turn right. Go straight until you hit the town.”

“Thanks, kid,” Theo replied with a nod.

“You’re welcome, and good luck. Let’s go guys,” Luka stated as he grabbed Casey’s elbow and turned him. He and the others turned away from the strangers and headed in the other direction. Once they were out of sight of the strangers, they took off running at top speed toward the compound.

***

“Flynn! Flynn!” Casey yelled as he ran through the main house.

Flynn and Aiden walked out of the kitchen looking toward Casey, their faces showing their concern. “Casey, what’s wrong?” Flynn asked.

“Flynn, we were coming back from salvaging whatever we could from the boathouse and we smelled a fire. So we went to investigate, and we came upon three large men. And, Flynn, I could smell alpha on the one and beta on the other. I don’t know about the third guy because he was too far away and he was unconscious. But they were definitely wolves,” Casey said in a hurry.

“Fuck! Where are they now?”

“Luka got pissed at the one guy’s attitude and sent them on a wild goose chase,” Casey replied with a laugh, causing Aiden to chuckle.

“Where are the others?” Flynn asked as he headed toward the front of the house with Aiden and Casey following.

“They went to put the supplies in the shed. They should be in any minute.”

“Get everyone in the great room now. We need to find these strangers and get rid of them,” Flynn announced.

Aiden stopped short and grabbed Flynn’s arm, stopping him. Flynn turned to face his brother. “Get rid of them? How are we supposed to do that? The boat is gone.”

“They had to have gotten here somehow. We find their boat and send them on their way. If they fight us, then we’ll have to get rid of them a different way. We need to search the island to see if there are others.”

“The alpha guy, he said his name was Jake, he said they were on a fishing trip, and the boat they were on lost all power, then the storm came, and the next thing they knew they were washed up on shore. They claim it’s just the three of them,” Casey explained.

“We need to make sure. Aiden, are the cells in the barn still stable?” Flynn asked.

“Yeah. What do you want to do, Flynn?”

Just as the question left Aiden’s lips, all the other boys entered, joining them.

“The sun will be down soon and I don’t want everyone running around in the dark looking for strangers. Luka, Casey said you sent these men on a wild goose chase. Where did you send them?” Flynn asked.

“They should end up at the jetty before they realize I was fucking with them,” Luka answered with a smirk.

“Good. Luka, Blaine, Mace, Ansel, and I will go collect our guests. Aiden, you and Shilo make sure the cells will hold and cast a few spells over them to make sure our guests can’t escape. Aryn, you, Casey, and Gilbert get cots and fresh linens set up in the cells. Clovis, Chad, Val, and Enzo, finish preparing dinner and make extra. We should probably feed them,” Flynn instructed.

“What about me, Flynn?” Teagan asked.

“If what they said was true and these men washed up on shore, they may have some injuries.”

“Yeah, they did. The one guy had a messed-up leg and another was unconscious,” Blaine added.

“Then we’ll need you to rest up, Teagan, in case you need to heal them.”

“I can help in the kitchen and that won’t wear me out, Flynn,” Teagan offered with a shy smile.

Flynn gave the smaller man a bright smile. “Of course. Thanks, Teagan, but not too much, okay?” Teagan nodded.

“Okay, everyone, let’s get going.”

“Flynn, what if there are others? Casey said he smelled wolf on them,” Val asked nervously.

“We take care of the three we can find, then head out in the morning and start looking for others. We can’t go out in the dark. Even though we can still see, there is still too many hiding places someone could jump out of,” Flynn replied.

Everyone agreed and headed out to do what they were told. Flynn, Luka, Blaine, Mace, and Ansel grabbed a few riffles on their way out the front door.

***

“You have got to be kidding me,” Theo ground out as he stared out over the great expanse of rippling blue water. “If I get my hands on that little shit, I’m gonna wring his neck.”

“Shit. This is our own fault. We should have just stayed where we were until morning, then one of us could have come to check it out and come back with help. Maybe we should have waited until Landis woke up? It’s too late now to do anything and we stupidly left our camp and fire behind,” Jake said in frustration.

“So now what, Jake? The sun will be down soon and the chill could kill him.”

“First we get off this damn beach again and find somewhere to hunker down for the night. We can’t start another fire, there’s not enough daylight left to go scrounging for more wood, so we’ll have to do whatever we can to keep Landis and ourselves warm. Let’s go.”

They each grabbed a pole from the stretcher they made from sticks and large leaves to transport Landis. Lifting the one side up, while the bottom dragged across the ground, they turned, and stopped dead in their tracks as they looked down the barrels of five rifles pointed at them.

“If you want to live, follow us. Try anything, and one of us will shoot your dick off,” the stunningly beautiful little man with the long golden blond hair stated calmly.

“Lead the way,” Jake answered.

Welcome back author Maggie Walsh to Sunday Spotlight. She's bringing news about her recent release -- Fin (The Angel Pack 15)

The battle the pack have all been waiting for since the first day Micah and Jesse met is now upon them. Their enemy, led by the god Hades, advances closer as even the world around them falls to total annihilation.

Jesse and Micah try to grasp the severity of the situation while still keeping everyone safe, but soon learn that that is not possible. The prophecy stated that they all must stand as one to face the final battle, but some of their allies find it hard to believe that they cannot join Micah, Jesse, and their family, and struggle with having to stand by and watch as those they love face their possible end.

Pulling on their love for one another in hopes that it will see them through, Micah and Jesse seek the gods audience once more, but it is not to ask for assistance as the gods believe. Jesse has come to them to make a request for something unexpected, should they stand victorious against Hades. With Aurora’s faith in them unwavering, Micah and Jesse step out onto the field of battle, along with those they love, and hold onto their faith that Fate knew what she was doing when she chose them for this task.

But as the battle ensues, many surprises are revealed, but a world of heartbreak shatters their resolve. In the end, will they stand victorious as they fight side-by-side with all their mates, or will Hades win and bring the world to its knees in darkness for eternity?

When all is said and done, the battle is over, and the smoke clears, only one remains standing, in a field of blood, but is it one on the side of good, or evil? Who will stand victorious?

Excerpt

With the uncertainty of what was to come, he was almost desperate to feel this connection to his mate. More than he had realized. Jesse writhed against Micah as he ran his hands down Micah’s powerful back, loving the feel of all his rippling muscles. Lowering his hands, he cupped Micah’s muscled ass and pulled him closer, then thrust his hips, rubbing his cock against his mate’s thick thigh.

“Shit. I gotta have you, baby. I need to feel you wrapped around me. I need to feel our bond,” Micah said, panting.

“Yes, love. Take me, claim me again, and let me get lost in you. In our love.”

Micah pulled the towel from around his waist as he pulled back from the kiss. He raised the towel and swiped it across Jesse’s face, taking all the shave cream away, then wiped his own face before dropping the towel to the floor.

Micah took hold of his globes and lifted him off his feet, then placed Jesse on the counter. “Lean back, baby.”

Jesse leaned his back against the wall and brought his feet up and spread his legs, resting his heels on the edge of the counter, as Micah quickly stripped. Once his mate stood before him naked, Jesse let his eyes feast on all of Micah’s golden skin and hard muscles. Gods he loved his mate’s body. It was pure perfection.

“Keep looking at me with that hunger in your eyes, baby, and this is going to be quick.”

Jesse shifted his gaze to meet Micah’s and gave him a sexy smile. He reached out a hand and ran one finger down Micah’s chest from collarbone to his navel as he said in a husky voice, “I can live with that. We don’t have much time right now anyway, but later when we get home, I want to spend a few hours licking every inch of this glorious body of yours.”

“Damn, baby. Maybe we can bow out and have a private party here,” Micah said as he moved to stand between Jesse’s thighs.

“I wish we could, but as you said, we all need this tonight.”

“True, but I need you more,” Micah replied.

“And you have me. So take what is yours, love.”

Micah leaned in and claimed his lips again. At the same time, Jesse could feel Micah moving around and heard a drawer open. He knew what his mate was doing. A moment later, a slick finger pressed against his hole and Jesse moaned. Micah quickly prepared him, sliding one finger after another inside him until Micah had four fingers thrusting in and out of him easily.

“Now, love. I’m ready. Need you where you belong. Inside me,” Jesse said breathlessly, gaining a growl from his mate.

Micah pulled his fingers free and a second later, Jesse felt the blunt tip of Micah’s huge, thick cock, that he loved so much, pressing against him. Jesse slid his hips down further, allowing his ass to hang off the edge of the counter, and Micah slid inside, filling him with one thrust.

“Fuck, yes!” Jesse cried out and gripped Micah’s shoulders.

Micah wrapped his arms around Jesse, pulling him up, and held him tight against his chest as he thrust up into him. Micah buried his face in Jesse’s throat, nibbling, kissing, and sucking. Micah’s hands moved down his back to his ass and lifted Jesse off the counter. He immediately wrapped his legs around Micah as he held on.

“Fuck, baby. So damn good. Every time with you, every day with you, is heaven on earth. I love you, my heart,” Micah said.

“I love you too, love.”

Micah continued to power into him, and Jesse bounced up and down on his mate’s long, hard cock, loving every inch, every thrust, as he moaned and panted. His head dropped back on his shoulders as he released a long moan. Micah licked his mating mark, and a powerful shiver of lust ran up his spine. He felt the sharp tips of Micah’s teeth on his sensitive skin, and a rush of need raced through him. He loved when Micah claimed him. He needed it.

A slight bite of pain hit his shoulder. Then his head swirled in euphoria as the pleasure overtook and wrapped around him, filling him. Jesse’s body bucked against Micah’s strong one. His orgasm shot out in a rush, exploding between them, and Jesse screamed his mate’s name. “Micah!”

Micah snapped his hips faster, harder, then his body went taut, and he gripped Jesse tighter. Jesse felt Micah’s release as he was filled with Micah’s hot seed. Micah said his name low against his skin, and it came out guttural on a moan, telling Jesse of the pleasure his mate felt in this moment, too. He smiled knowing that he could satisfy his man and give him a place of comfort and release.

Micah licked across his mark, then lifted his head and kissed Jesse tenderly. Micah put their foreheads together as they both panted, breathing one another in. “I love you, Jesse,” Micah whispered.

“I love you too, Micah.”
